It's important to take beclometasone tablets as your doctor tells you. Always follow the instructions from a pharmacist or doctor, or the leaflet in the medicine packet.
Dosage
Beclometasone comes as slow release tablets containing 5mg. The tablets release the medicine into your body slowly throughout the day.
The usual dose is one 5mg tablet once a day in the morning.
How to take it
Swallow the tablet whole with a drink of water. Do not break or chew it.
It's best to take it before breakfast.
How long to take it for
Most people take beclometasone tablets for up to 4 weeks at a time.
You need to take them regularly for the medicine to work fully. Keep taking them for as long as your doctor tells you, even if you feel better.
Your doctor will tell you how long to take beclometasone for.
If you forget to take it
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for your next dose. In this case, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the usual time.
Never take 2 doses of beclometasone tablets to make up for a forgotten one.
If you often forget doses, it may help to set an alarm to remind you. You could also ask your pharmacist for advice on other ways to help you remember to take your medicine.
If you take too much
Taking more than your prescribed dose of beclometasone is unlikely to harm you.
Talk to your doctor or a pharmacist if you're worried.
