Cautions with other medicines
Some medicines can affect the way bendroflumethiazide works and increase the chances of you having side effects.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting to take bendroflumethiazide if you take any other medicines, including:
- other medicines that lower blood pressure
- allopurinol, a medicine to treat gout
- non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin for pain relief
- insulin or any other medicine used to treat diabetes
- ciclosporin, a medicine used for preventing transplant rejection or to treat other medical conditions such as psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis
- medicines used to treat heart problems, such as amiodarone, digoxin, disopyramide, flecainide or sotalol
- medicines to treat sickness or nausea (antiemetics), such as domperidone, metoclopramide or prochlorperazine
- certain antidepressants, such as amitriptyline, citalopram or venlafaxine
- medicines for other mental health problems, such as chlorpromazine, pimozide or trifluoperazine
- other diuretics (medicines that help your body get rid of extra fluid)
- steroids, such as prednisolone or hydrocortisone
- some medicines used for asthma, including inhalers such as formoterol, salbutamol or salmeterol
- carbamazepine, a medicine for epilepsy
- medicines to treat calcium or vitamin D deficiency, including alfacalcidol or calcitriol

Mixing bendroflumethiazide with herbal remedies and supplements
Tell your doctor if you're taking calcium or vitamin D supplements.
There's not enough information to say that other complementary medicines, herbal remedies and supplements are safe to take with bendroflumethiazide. They're not tested in the same way as pharmacy and prescription medicines. They're generally not tested for the effect they have on other medicines.
