Using budesonide inhalers with other medicines and herbal supplements - Brand names: Pulmicort, Budelin

Cautions with other medicines

Budesonide inhalers can be used with most other medicines. But some medicines may affect your inhaler and increase the chance of having side effects.

Check with a pharmacist or your doctor if you're taking:

  • medicines used to treat HIV such as ritonavir or cobicistat
  • other medicines that contain steroids such as eczema creams, other asthma inhalers, steroid tablets, injections, nasal sprays or eye or nose drops
  • antifungal medicines, such as or itraconazole

Mixing budesonide inhalers with herbal remedies and supplements

There's not enough evidence to say that complementary medicines, herbal remedies and supplements are safe to take while using a budesonide inhaler. They're not generally tested for the effect they have on other medicines.

Important: Medicine safety

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you're taking any other medicines, including herbal remedies, vitamins or supplements.
