Cautions with other medicines
Fybogel can change the way some medicines work.
Tell your doctor if you're taking any of these medicines before starting to take Fybogel:
- carbamazepine, a medicine for epilepsy and mood problems
- digoxin, a heart medicine
- mesalazine, a medicine to treat gut problems
There's some evidence that Fybogel stops your body from taking in iron properly. If you need iron supplements, it's best to take them at least 1 hour before, or 4 hours after, you take Fybogel.
Taking Fybogel with other laxatives
For most people, 1 laxative will be enough to relieve constipation.
Occasionally, you may need to take 2 different types of laxatives at the same time to get your bowels moving again.
Only take 2 laxatives together on the advice of your doctor or pharmacist, as there's an increased risk of side effects.
Taking Fybogel with irritable bowel syndrome remedies
You can take Fybogel alongside irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) remedies such as Buscopan.
Mixing Fybogel with herbal remedies and supplements
There are no known problems with taking herbal remedies and supplements with Fybogel.
Important: Medicine safety
