Who may not be able to use timolol eye drops
Timolol eye drops are not suitable for everyone. To make sure they're safe for you, tell your doctor if you:
- have ever had an allergic reaction to timolol or any other medicine
- are due to have, or have had eye surgery (including cataract surgery)
- have eye problems such as eye pain, irritation, inflammation, blurred vision, or dry eyes
- wear contact lenses – you can still use timolol, but you will need to remove your contact lenses before using the drops. You’ll also need to wait 15 minutes after using the drops to put your contact lenses back in
- have lung disease or asthma
- have heart problems, including a slow heart rate
- have low blood pressure (hypotension)
