Proxy access is a secure way to use one or more health services for someone else, for example to:
- book appointments
- order prescriptions
- speak to surgery staff
- get information like test results from medical records
Some GP surgeries are trialling a new feature in the NHS App which you can use to send an application to them.
If your GP surgery is taking part in this trial, you will see these options when you select Manage health services for others in the NHS App:
- Apply to access services for someone else
- Give someone you trust access to your services
You can create an NHS App account if you do not already have one.
When you create an account, you'll need to prove your identity before you can apply to manage services for others. This helps keep information secure.
Log in or open NHS App Create an accountYou can get access to your own health services in your NHS account.
If you cannot apply using the NHS App
If you're not able to apply to manage health services for others using the NHS App, ask your GP surgery if you can set up proxy access another way.
