NHS Health Check online

If you have been invited to do your NHS Health Check online, you can now do it at home at your own pace. You do not need a GP appointment.

What the NHS Health Check online covers

The NHS Health Check online is available to those aged 40 to 74. It offers the same benefits as the face-to-face health check and spots early signs of:

  • heart disease
  • stroke
  • kidney disease
  • type 2 diabetes
  • dementia

The good news is that all these conditions are preventable, even if they run in your family.

Who can do the NHS Health Check online

You can complete the NHS Health Check online if you:

  • are aged 40 to 74
  • have received an invitation with a link to the online service from a participating provider
  • do not have certain pre-existing health conditions
Information:

If you are aged 40 to 74 and have not had an invitation to the online service, you may still be able to do the NHS Health Check in person.

What the NHS Health Check online involves

You will be asked to:

  • answer a short questionnaire about your family history and lifestyle
  • measure your height, weight and waist
  • provide a blood pressure reading
  • do a finger-prick blood test, sent to you for free

Your results

Once your blood test has been analysed, you will receive a link to your results. These will include your:

  • heart age compared to your actual age
  • risk of heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years
  • body mass index (BMI), cholesterol and blood pressure levels
  • risk of type 2 diabetes

Personalised advice will be given based on your results, helping you to improve your health and wellbeing.

Your GP will contact you if further discussion is required.
