Check you are eligible to complete an NHS Health Check online

Where a face-to-face appointment is recommended

You should not do the NHS Health Check online if you:

  • are pregnant
  • have been diagnosed with or suspect you have an eating disorder
  • have a condition affecting your height
  • have a limb amputation or were born with a limb difference

These may lead to inaccurate results due to the automatic calculations used in the online service.

Your GP surgery might offer an NHS Health Check in person instead.

Health conditions that make the NHS Health Check unsuitable

The NHS Health Check is not designed for people with any of the following conditions:

  • heart disease
  • chronic kidney disease
  • diabetes
  • high blood pressure (hypertension)
  • atrial fibrillation
  • transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
  • inherited high cholesterol (familial hypercholesterolaemia)
  • heart failure
  • peripheral arterial disease
  • stroke
  • currently being prescribed statins to lower cholesterol
  • previous checks have found that you have a 20% or higher risk of getting cardiovascular disease over the next 10 years

If you have one of these conditions, you should have regular check-ups with your doctor or health team. They can guide you on managing your health effectively.
