Review titled Great practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sasha and Isaac - Posted on 07 October 2024
I spoke to a lovely receptionist tonight who kindly managed to get me an appointment for my toddler due to a high temp. We were seen by a Dr who went above and beyond checking over my son and he provided me with helpful advice. He was very attentive and I feel very lucky to have this surgery as our local doctors! Thank you so much!

Review titled Impossible to get an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 23 September 2024
Tried to book an appointment via Patches and was told the Patches system would open for the day at 12.31pm. Logged on at 12.33pm and was told Patches was shut for the day?! It's utterly ridiculous. Gave the surgery a call and was kept on hold for 15 minutes. Had to give up to get back to work. Getting an appointment is impossible, which is a shame because on the extremely rare occasions when you do manage to get one the GP's are excellent.

Review titled Awful
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Rachel - Posted on 08 May 2024
I’m going through a very difficult time and had no support. Rang 287 times and was on hold for 17 minutes. Requested a sick note and on collection was not there and staff don’t know why. Again requested it and asked if they could call me as I have lots of appointments this week and apparently they don’t do that. Now had to cancel my appointments just to check if I can actually receive my sick note. Staff are rude and incompetent

Both my husband and I have been to this practice recently, we would like to say all of the staff were nothing but polite and professional on every occasion a special mention the nurse who is always bright and bubbly, helpful and professional explaining everything in a pleasant manner that leaves you confident to ask questions and feel listened too xxx

Review titled Excellent care at this practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Gary Cleland - Posted on 31 August 2023
I have been a patient in this practice for over 30 years and during that time have received nothing less than exceptional treatment and care. In my experience all of the medical staff at this practice are exceptionally qualified and experienced with superb social skills with an individualised approach to patient care. I’m also much impressed with all of the aligned health professionals and admin staff at this practice. I think it’s important to remember that we have an NHS that is free and has been throughout its 75 year history. For this reason and the impressive service offered by Westmorland GP centre, I am pleased to express my gratitude and long may this amazing service continue.

Getting an appointment here is the worse , this is my first pregnancy I called for appointment at 8am on the dot , could not get trough I tried for an hour - 300 calls later to stay in the phone line , no luck I even tried to book online and expressed the importance of this appointment. I call the reception desk and they finally picked up to tell me they can't help , express what I needed they even said " oh yea you need to see someone for this" So unhelpful , what I need is very important to avoid miscarriage and you guys are not even wiling to help. How am I meant to trust you all or even the NHS

Review titled Disappointed and let down
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I took my 6 year old daughter to A&E Ormskirk Hospital with a red line that run up her arm on Monday 12th June as I was concerned of an infection. They was baffled by it and took photos and told me to take her to my own GP (Westmorland) and ask to be referred to a dermatologist. I called for an appointment to be told the doctor would call back in the afternoon. (Tuesday 13th June) The doctor called at around 4pm. When I explained about the line that runs up her arm that isn’t going away. She asked for me to send photos to her, so I did. An hour later she called me back to say, they think she has tied something around her arm and that is what the line is. Amazing to guess by just looking at a photo. I told them she hasn’t done that and I was worried of an infection tracking up her arm. She said no I’m not concerned about that at all. I said oh ok I feel better now. Then Wednesday 14th June the doctor that actually seen my daughter on Monday in the hospital called me to say she had showed the photos of my daughters arm to one of the specialists in the dermatology department and although they was still baffled by the line, they wasn’t going to take a chance and put her on a course of antibiotics incase it was an infection. They then arranged for her antibiotics to be deliver to my home. Thank god for Ormskirk Hospital for following up on a 6 year old who they had actually seen in person and was still worried about her to take the time and show a specialist who knows about that area. I don’t think you should be taking chances asking to send photos in with something like this. I don’t understand why the rest of the world has gone back to normal but doctors surgeries are still wanting to operate over the phone instead of a face to face appointment. I have called the doctors a few times to address this and update them on what the hospital have done. But the phone is never answered.

Review titled Great
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Another great experience with this practice. Non urgent issue, sent off an econsult, responded same day with date for phonecall. Phonecall as promised, f2f that day! Think people just need to manage their own expectations sometimes and realise you cant always get what you want on demand. Like the rest of us everyone is just doing their best. Receptionists get a bad wrap but please be kind they are not running the NHS and can't be held responsible for all the problems. Thanks again.

Review titled Total shambles

My wife was told to get bloods done by their doctor , this was done in Broadgreen on the 20/01/2023 , as they could not offer this and Breeze Hilll was 3 weeks waiting time. Rang on the 01/02/2023 and they would not chase up the bloods and were totally disrespectful

Dear Mr Johnstone, I am sorry you have felt the need to to raise your concern publicly. We are a GP practice with 12,000 patients, as you can imagine we request a lot of blood tests and unfortunately do not have capacity to chase the Laboratories for the results. This is not new, we have never had capacity to chase up blood results on behalf of patients. Kindest regards Practice Manager

Review titled Bad Practice

After attending a 14.30 face to face appointment given to me by a doctor on a telephone appointment I was bluntly to by the receptionist it wasn't the right time as the doctor in question didn't start her appointments until 15.00After asking was the doctor in the building the receptionist said she didn't know and after further questions she said maybe the doctor has gone out on an emergency call.I was eventually called at 15.03 and when in the doctors room I asked why I was late and the doctor said she was doing tasks and kept glancing in top right corner of her screen to see see if it was flagged that I had arrived but it wasn't I asked her had she been in her room at 14.30 and she said yes .Have to say with the attitude of the receptionist how strange I got to see the doctor just after 15.00 the time she originally insisted my appointment must have been. The same evening at 20.23 I received a text message on my mobile apologising and said she hadn't been notified I was there waiting to be seen but also said she didn't enquire at reception. I thought it was receptionist job to notify doctor not for doctor to come looking for patient

Dear Mrs Carr, After a face to face apology from the Dr and a follow up message later that day apologising again, I would have expected this matter to be closed. I understand and appreciate having to wait for a consultation and being called in late is not ideal but unfortunately this does sometimes happen. Our receptionists activate the clinical system to show a patient has arrived, this then prompts the relevant clinician that the patient is waiting and the clinician will call the patient in to the consulting room. For reasons unknown the prompt did not show on the clinicians screen, leading to a delay in you being seen. I have to reiterate, the receptionist was not at fault, this was a technical error and was reported to the software provider on the day. Kindest regards Practice Manager
