Review titled Rheumatology Appointments
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by David Beaty - Posted on 02 December 2024
Since a review appointment in February this year when my medication was changed I have has at least 5 invitations for follow up appointments, all of which have been cancelled within a few days of recieving the notification letter. The latest letter was dated Nov 26th and the appointment cancelled [via text] on December 2nd. I would like to know the reason for the emerging pattern of appointments being made only to be cancelled within days. Please advise.

Review titled Waste of 6 hours.

Went to A & E on Saturday with sever headaches my doctors told me to go here. a short lady done my blood pressure, asked me questions ect she was blunt with me and it me feel I shouldn't be there. The other lady I seen was lovely, very pretty, lovely personality, very easy to talk to she told me the were bad but made appointment with Choc, went back home for 80 minutes to come back for my 6.30pm choc I got seen to at 8.20pm and it was not busy at all another old man and woman waited the same time bless and she ended up having to go to A and E. After waiting over 2 hours at choc I was giving medication that I'm not even allowed and he looked through all doctors medication he gave me tablets that makes my seizures bad, I went for sever headaches and ended up with sleeping tablets and some others I'm not supposed to take, I never knew at the time my husband deals with all my tablets. Can I just say A and E waiting room was dirty, watching the man mop a floor over dirt that needed sweept up first, no signs out to warn the floor was wet, I has to tell the old lady walking in incase she fell.

I was rushed in with severe chest pains. I was screaming in pain for 8 hours, never had an ECG or blood pressure taken whole time I was there. Also never took sugar or glucose readings, even though I am diabetic. Was sent home within 25 minutes when given pain relief, but never asked if I'm actually OK to go home

Review titled Efficient and caring paediatric A&E department
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had to bring my son to the paediatric A&E and the staff were brilliant with him. Despite it being a weekend we were seen within a reasonable amount of time. The doctor and nurses were very thorough and reassuring. It was a stressful time for us and all of the staff we encountered were professional and focussed on helping my son. I hope we don’t have to return but I was really impressed with our experience there.

by Dr Mark C Taylor - Posted on 01 November 2024
i was referred as an emergency by my optician to outpatient department Ophthalmology Cumberland Infirmary Reception were really helpful and I was seen and treated the same day. I sat in the waiting room and was really impressed with the care staff showed to patients waiting. i needed laser treatment which was efficiently done with a review organised. At the review I need some further treatment- the retinal specialist fitted me in the same afernoon. The clinic is really busy but patient care is really good. I was happy to wait for my laser treatment as I could see that the service was very busy- i got to have a coffee while my consultant worked right through. I would highly recommend this department as providing outstanding patient care. thank you so much.

Review titled Amazing care shown
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Daph Rudd - Posted on 20 August 2024
I brought my 41yr old son in after he suffered from chest pains at camp. (he also happens to have 'Downs'). From the moment we entered the A & E department, we were absolutely amazed at the professionalism & care, & the way my son was treated was second to none. We were actually asked to stay for a further six hours so that blood tests could be repeated. After two blood tests, offers of sandwiches & coffee, two ECG's, and a chest X-ray, we were given the all clear with a follow up appointment in Cardiology within three weeks. As a family, we have total admiration for every member of staff we encountered. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts

I had to have a hysteroscopy today which wasn’t really planned. I would just like to thank the staff in gynaecology in the Cumberland Infirmary. They have been so helpful while I have been having trouble getting a contraceptive coil removed. They went above and beyond to help me and I couldn’t be more grateful. They are extremely lovely people. Thank you so much again.
