Review titled Very disappointing phlebotomy service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 December 2024
I visited the phlebotomy service at 3.25 today. They did not want to hear my story and so I am disappointed to be posting it here. I attended the department to see if they had any available appointments. I explained I needed 1 test and that because I had just received notification that my sister is at end of life, I need to urgently travel out of area (Lincoln) and therefore can’t book an appointment until I can be certain I am back in the area. I also explained that my blood test is overdue because my GP had only just issued the form. There was only one other patient in the waiting room and it would have been nice if the phlebotomy staff had at least checked their appointments to see if there were any cancellations or DNAs in the next hour. But no, i was offered the information card on how to book an appointment instead. I will never know if there were any cancellations or DNAs in the last hour of the opening times because of their refusal to check. But I do know that I freed up a valuable inpatient bed last week by undertaking my treatment and follow up tests in the community. I have cancer and was an inpatient for neutropenic sepsis. My liver enzymes were climbing as an inpatient because of IV antibiotics and so I am worried about preventing another hospital admission myself. I am caught between looking after my own health and attending to my sister at the end of her life. But I was shown no compassion or help by the phlebotomy service. In my conclusion today, it purely is a 1 more vial of blood that they didn’t want to collect with very little concern for the person they are helping.

Review titled Excellent on time service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had an outpatient urology appointment at 1:00pm on 13th October. I arrived early and was processed very quickly at Outpatient reception. My examination started early and was complete by 1:05pm. I was treated with great care and respect by the nursing team and by the consultant. I was given a very clear explanation of the examination and the outcome. An excellent experience all round. Well done and thank you.

Treatment of my diabetic foot ulcer by the Podiatry team has been excellent during a worrying time. Staff are professional, caring and friendly
