Review titled MRI dept excellent !
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Colin Thornton - Posted on 29 October 2024
Had an MRI scan today which was excellently handled by staff on duty Previous experience of old style MRI machines left me anxious as I suffer from Claustrophobia -the new equipment is so more advanced than old technology . The nurse who helped me advised me to go in feet first as I could look backwards and see lights - brilliant service and experience from start to finish

Review titled Very poor treatment
by Zubiha Kussar - Posted on 11 June 2024
I went in with angina pain not getting better after GTN I collapsed at the reception was taken in small room bloods taken and was told to sit outside after 3 hours I was given option to come to ambulatory care where they admitted me after checking my previous records. However I was taken to AMU B ward instead of cardiology ward. After 4 days I am still awaiting there to be seen by cardiologist no space in the cardiology ward saying only serious patients are taken in. Consultants are making life hard for all the staff by not dealing with situations properly so much rush nobody taking it seriously. They should treat minor illnesses quickly and let them go to make space for others. Keeping patients hanging is putting a lot of pressure on everyone. They have a lot of complaints but no actiom taken to improve the service.

Dear Zubiha, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on NHS Website about your experience at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital. I am extremely sorry to hear of your recent experience and have fed your comments back to the senior staff within the Emergency Department and AMU B. We do have a Matron on duty and actively promote a tell me today campaign, where people can call the matron directly, so we can meet with relatives and patients to hear about their care, at the time of their care, then where needed any resolution can be achieved at the time. If you wish to speak to someone about the concerns you have raised then please do get in touch with our customer relations team at 01254 733700 or email complaints@elht.nhs.uk and someone can call you back Kind regards, Sarah Ridehalgh Patient Experience Facilitator

Review titled Complete contrast between Accrington & Blackburn
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 May 2024
In the past 2 weeks I've had to visit Accrington Victoria Urgent Care with other people and both times they have been exceptional. Unfortunately on the 2nd visit they directed us to Blackburn as they don't have the medication required. Blackburn A & E proved to be a horrific experience. It needs a complete overall. Most of the staff we encountered didn't have a clue what they were doing, completely unorganised, unable to prioritise, patients abandoned in corridors with no communication. We witnessed several used syringes on the floor, patients being seen in the waiting room with no privacy, dignity or confidentiality. Patients wandered aimlessly as staff didn't seem to know where anybody should be. 3 staff at once putting bedding on, yet nobody who could actually give much needed medication. Despite being told that my relative had been prescribed morphine and marked as major he didn't receive any medication during the visit. Even the staff admitted there is a huge issue in patients accessing pain medication. Out of 6 people who attempted a sling only 1 actually knew how to do it! We are constantly told the staff are overworked but 90% of the staff seemed more interested in playing on their phones, chatted with other staff or wandering around. Confidential conversations and staff bickering went on in front of patients! My relative would have been better off staying at Accrington Victoria as he received no treatment or care at Blackburn. Staff with bad attitudes, incompetence, dirt and ignorance are the only things awaiting patients at Blackburn

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent visits and thank-you for taking the time to provide this. It is lovely to hear that you found the care your relative received at Accrington Victoria Hospital, Minor Injuries Unit from the staff to be exceptional. However, I am sorry to hear the care and treatment at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, Urgent Treatment Centre did not meet those expectations and will ensure that your feedback is brought to the attention of the senior staff for the department and shared with the team. If you would like to provide further information about your experience you can contact the Patient Experience team by email at patientexperience@elht.nhs.uk Or if you prefer you can discuss further any concerns you may have about our services with our East Lancashire Hospitals Trust Customer Relations team on 01254 733700 or complaints@elht.nhs.uk who can advise you of your options in raising these concerns further. Review titled Excellent Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mrs Kath Payton - Posted on 11 January 2024
My grandson was seen in A &E this week with an unresolved chest infection having been directed from 111. Eventually having received some treatment he was transferred to the Ambulatory department for continuing observation prior to discharge. Myself and his mum and dad attended with him over an approximate 20 period. I was like to send a huge thank you for the care he received in the extremely busy Ambulatory department from start to finish ! From the lovely Care Assistant who provided food and drinks( she was so friendly and efficient and important she is recognised!! ) Also the 2 lovely Staff Nurses for their excellent professional and friendly care both to my grandson and to us his family ( one female and one male. They know who they are so Thank You both ) Finally the superb care and that my grandson received from The Advanced Nurse Practitioner along with her Trainee ANP ! From the extensive assessment, immediate treatment and ongoing treatment plan for discharge and following weeks, they absolutely could not be faulted so Thank You So Much ! We are extremely grateful for All the care my grandson received on Monday 8th January in this department so I would like you to tell them just how good they are please.

Review titled Very efficient service
Rated 4 stars out of 5

I attended Urgent care at RBH after a fall where I had sustained a fracture to my wrist. I was seen quickly after arrival by a physio who examined me, gave me pain relief and sent me for an xray. I then required the fracture to be reduced as it was displaced. I was seen by a doctor and nursing team at this point. The whole team from the receptionist, care coordinator in reception, the physio, radiographer, doctor and nursing team were all polite and friendly and the process was efficient. Thankyou to you all for making a difficult time a little easier.

Whalley surgery has been amazing looking after me over last two weeks since having a bowel issue . GP was extremely efficient in ordering tests . Contacted by consultant within a week . Attended Rossendale Primary care today for ileoconostomy . I was very apprehensive and nervous The staff were very professional and compassionate. Fortunately nothing abnormal was detected Two weeks from initial consultation to non cancer diagnosis . Very efficient and well organised service !

Review titled Terrible experience
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I was sent via the 111 service to the urgent care centre in Burnley. I checked in at 1845 as advised by the 111 service and the receptionist booked me in telling me I would be seen around 7.30. At 8.30 I asked how long it would be to be told that the Dr appointed to me was running behind. At 9.00 I went to the reception and was told to speak to the nurses direct who told me that the Dr was running behind and another doctor was assisting but was writing up notes. I was the only person in the waiting area that was not called in. Everyone there was initially seen. People arriving hours after I came went in before me. The service was not overly busy judging by the small numbers of patients waiting in the waiting room. I left at 9.30 as I could no longer sit in position (severe abdominal pain) I went home. I feel very disappointed and extremely upset with the service as well as being inconsolable on the way home. I would never use this service again. It has been years since I used hospital services and it took a great leap of faith to actually contact the 111 service as I didn't wish to use the service thinking my complaint may not have warranted a visit but it was the 111 service who decided I needed to visit based on my assessment.

Review titled Personal ?
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by L Drinkwater - Posted on 09 December 2022
Sat near reception I was astounded to see a member of staff push in front of the queue and knock an elderly man 2 steps to the side. Having waited 1hour 15 mins over the appointment time I asked at reception only to have the above member of staff very put out at having to explain , that was made very obvious. Belligerent and unhelpful ! I found this really sad that one person clouded the experience at the clinic . The rest of the staff were pleasant , polite and very helpful.
