Review titled Great team
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Jean Woffenden - Posted on 23 May 2024
After a surgical procedure I was fortunate enough to have an overnight stay on ward12 at Dewsbury Hospital. I cannot speak highly enough of the entire staff on ward 12. They were all completely professional and efficient but most of all caring. They worked well as a team and carried out their duties with a smile, thank you Ward 12.

Review titled Exceptional care throughout.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Graham F Williams - Posted on 16 November 2023
From arriving at the Gate at 06.40 to leaving at 18.00 the care and attention I received was excellent. On arriving at reception then the nursing staff on to anaesthetist's, consultant, doctors, recovery ward and finally the discharge ward/lounge, absolutely faultless. Thank you to all concerned for your care and attention shown to me.

Review titled Brilliant treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by J Crawford - Posted on 10 November 2023
I recently had a full hip replacement, at the Elective Orthopaedic Suite in Pontefract Hospital and was very impressed with the care I received. Every member of staff I met, from the porters to the consultant were friendly and helpful and made my two night stay a lot easier than I thought it would be. I previously had knee replacements done in a private hospital and have to say my NHS experience was better than this and I also received much more information before the operation.

Review titled Follow up appointment
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 September 2023
My father was sent by the trust to an outpatients appointment in South elmsall for a endoscopy & colonoscopy due to abdominal pain. Which whilst he was there was told there was something that needed further investigation and may or not be be cancerous but would need another endoscopy and would hear something within 2wks. Now gone past 2wks and rang them today and the previous day who said they would ring me back and did not to be told today they haven't had the referral request for another one to be performed yet. What is going on?? its very stressful time and is still in pain with it. Next port of call will be a strongly worded letter to my local mp. This trust isn't fit for purpose my sister has been waiting for an operation on her spine for 14months and hobbling about on crutches and struggling to walk

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your father's recent experience. It is clear from your posting how you have been left feeling frustrated due to the delay in appointments and the issue with the referral. I am very sorry to read of this and can only imagine how upsetting this will be for your father and his family. In order for us to be able to look into this further for you, please could I ask that you contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (myh-tr.palsmidyorks@nhs.net). Once they have received all the necessary information from you ie patient details etc, they will be able to explore this with the appropriate service. They should also be able to help look into the issue you sister is experiencing with a date for surgery. Thank you again and I hope you will be in touch with our Patient Advice & Liaison Service. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)

Review titled Fantastic A&E experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by EJC - Posted on 03 January 2023
I attended Pinderfields A&E with a severe dental abscess and facial swelling on 1/1/23 expecting to wait around for hours after reading many negative reviews online and in the news. I arrived at 6:40pm and was discharged by 12:30am so this wasn’t the case at all. All staff were amazing and the maxfax doctor who treated the abscess deserves special credit. I unfortunately didn’t catch his name and didn’t thank him as much as I would have liked. He made the unbearable agony I was in disappear so I honestly couldn’t be more grateful! He also took great care in ensuring I was discharged from A&E as promptly as possible. It was a bustling A&E department as you would expect but I personally felt it was a great experience and the staff all deserve way more respect.

Review titled Experience
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Admitted to pgh a and e 11 hour wait to see Dr. Hospital crisis no beds. Staff were excellent-however organisation and Systems were appalling. Once admitted via ambulance left in A&E waiting room in nightwear for approx 4 hours People waiting to be seen were going home due to long wait and not informing a member of staff they were leaving the building People were charging their phones up It was evident lots of people could have gone to urgent care to be seen. I felt really uncomfortable feeling ill and sat in waiting area in my nightwear. Staff were shouting out people's names to go to day assessment and majority had left the unit before informing reception. Waste of valuable staff time. Directed to day assessment given wrong directions. Assess unit shared with physio and ot outpatients and was chaos.waited for approx 3 hours to be seen in same waiting area witnessing one poor lady vomiting numerous times into a vomit bowl The lady must have felt so embarrassed as the unit was crowded with patients How undignified for her These systems need a complete overall to triage on arrival people who should attend urgent care and not accepted in A&, E. People should only be allowed one person to stay with them not all the family. People should be fined if they charge up their phones unless extreme emergency. Hot drinks should be cheaper Patients in nightwear should be able to have separate area to wait to be seen. Assessment unit needs to be located nearer to emergency dept with clear direction and signs displayed. The dept should be stand alone not shared with outpatients More high backed chairs should be available for poorly people to sit in for hours at a time. Experience very poor and distressing. Staff were trying to do their best with poor resources Management need to re look at the overall plans including how dept are set up in order to streamline the systems for patients and make the patient experience better I totally feel for the staff and how they manage to stay focused and do their jobs is a credit to them!

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience of our Emergency Department. The events that you have described are not what we would want any of our patients to experience however, it is lovely to read how appreciative you are of our staff. Thank you, I will share your comments with the team. Unfortunately, we are still seeing extremely long queues in our Emergency Departments and urgent care departments resulting in our patients waiting much longer than we would like. We understand the negative impact this has on our patients, and I would like to assure you that we are doing all that we can to manage this situation as best we can. I am very saddened that you felt very uncomfortable feeling ill and sat in the waiting area in your nightclothes. I cannot begin to imagine what a worrying and anxious time this must have been for you and I am so sorry for your poor experience. I have shared your comments with the teams and thank you again for your feedback. I hope you are recovering well. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)
