  1. Review titled Moorfields St Anns

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Have had two cataract ops in 2 months. Having been very short sighted too and wearing glasses for 67 years, my sight is now sharp, colourful and amazing. I am in awe of the professionals, the care, the process and the technology. I cannot thank you enough. You are doing a fantastic job - thank you, thank you, thank you

  2. Review titled cataract operation which changed my working life

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by JAVIER FERNANDEZ PENA - Posted on 05 September 2024

I was referred to Moorfields for a cataract operation since my work entails long hours a day of reading aloud (I am a voice over), and my eye sight was poor and not improving with glasses due to the cataracts. From day one I was in hands of extremely caring professionals, from the nurses and people in reception desks to the surgeons who carried out the operations. I was explained with detail all the steps along the way. Both operations were a great success, the difference it makes is huge in terms of quality of life. I am reading without any fog and cloud vision and therefore I make less mistakes and sail through the voice over sessions! Thank you Moorfields...You are wonderful!!

  3. Review titled Communication Breakdown

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Miss Communicated - Posted on 23 July 2024

I've been treated at Moorfields for over four years. During that time my primary phone number has changed. I've been able to change it with all my other contact points with the health service, but it seems to be impossible to get Moorfields to acknowledge it. As a result I've missed calls, including a very important one involving a diagnosis, because they've been made to the old number. Prolonged searches have failed to turn up a form or method of altering a patient's primary contact number; helpful staff have taken down my new number, but that doesn't change the records. To compound this, I've found it very hard to contact anyone at all at the clinic where I've been treated. Web pages addresses lead to 404 notices; emails bounce from addresses given on letters; phone numbers for the consultant supposedly in charge of my treatment (I've never met or talked to them or any doctors under their charge) ring out or lead to full voicemail boxes. And appointments are changed without proper explanation -- I've been driven to write this because an appointment for tests at a clinic, with a followup consultation with an optometrist about ongoing treatment, has now been diverted to a diagnostic centre where test results are examined remotely. And since Moorfields will not acknowledge or record my new phone number, I have no trust that if anyone tries to call me about the test results, they will use the right number. People sometimes complain there are too many administrative staff in the health service; in my humble opinion Moorfields should appoint at least one more to fix these communication problems and make the hosital as accessible to patients as other health service establishments. At the moment, it's a Kafkaesque nightmare.

  4. Review titled Excellent on line A&E consult

Rated 5 stars out of 5

After a minor eye injury on a Friday evening we were able to talk to a Dr who could give us advice. The online consult was brilliant - helpful and reassuring. Sadly I don’t recall the Dr’s name but he was excellent. Thanks

  5. Review titled A Team of Professionals

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by A Professor of Philosophy - Posted on 11 June 2024

At Moorfields A&E Department on Friday, 7 June 2024, I encountered an exceptional team of professionals. From the welcoming staff at the registration and receptionists’ desk to the skilled triage nurses and attentive pharmacists, everyone provided exceptional care. Above all, a brilliant, knowledgeable young Ophthalmology resident based in London who is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons particularly impressed me. He examined my left eye meticulously, explained the root cause of the problem clearly, and prescribed effective medication. His knowledge and care were truly outstanding. I left the department with a positive experience and immense gratitude for the entire team. I wish them all the best of success in their future endeavours.

  6. Review titled Wonderful visit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ian - Posted on 29 May 2024

We've heard good things about Moorfields Eye Hospital over the years but when my wife and I attended an appointment for my eye recently, I was treated with respect, but kindness by all the staff. Everything was explained to my wife and I and all our questions were answered and explained carefully. When we visit a hospital there is a little apprehension, but we left feeling happier with all the help and kindness shown.

  7. Review titled Excellent Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Abena Mintah - Posted on 26 April 2024

The service was quick and The staff were up their task. I was fully satisfied w the team who did the initial assessment. The nurse and doctor who saw me later explained everything that was happening to me. They went to the extent of taking me through thorough tutorials on eye care. I was given pamphlets which were further instructional and educative. I was happy and relieved of any suspicions and biases.

  8. Review titled An Excellent Hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I visited the A& E Department of Moorfields Hospital today (Wednesday, 04/04/2024) to consult with the doctors there concerning irritation and redness of my left eye. I was impressed by the organisational efficiency of the system in place in the hospital and the professionalism of all the hospital staff, each in his/her line of activity. In particular, I was impressed by the level of expertise of the consultant who thoroughly examined my eye and, correctly identified the problem and prescribed an effective course of treatment. He also kindly provided me with a very informative pamphlet concerning my symptoms. I wish this consultant [whose name, unfortunately, I am not allowed to use in my review due to the rules of the Moorfields Hospital] and all his colleagues the very best of success in the work they do to improve the health of the nation and alleviate the suffering of their patients.

  9. Review titled Good however some staff are very impolite and unprofessional

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 March 2024

The triage nurse in cubicle 2, seemed indifferent to the urgency of my eye condition despite 111 advising it could be a high-risk retina detachment, potentially resulting in vision loss. Instead of prioritizing my emergency, she complained about us not being at the local hospital. This lack of concern and professionalism was deeply disappointing, especially given my own experience in a caring profession. I expected better treatment and a more compassionate approach to patient care. It wasn't the time and place to be guided where we should go and what's local as it was an emergency and we were guided by Newham A&E to go to Moorfields. She was about to send us back if we hadn't told her it was an emergency and we've been travelling back and forth the whole day. I am disappointed not only from the way she acted today but her tone of voice and how unbothered it seemed she was about her patients, not even giving them direct eye contact when speaking and very blunt. Very unprofessional.

  10. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Fraser Borwick - Posted on 03 February 2024

Excellent service from a great team. I had a check up on Glaucoma and was impressed by the professionalism. There was no waiting around, bright reception area, spacious waiting areas well ventilated and brilliant staff at every level from medics to porters. I was guided around, had excellent explanations on my situation and very thorough. I was there three hours and it flew by. Came away feeling good with a much better understanding.
