Review titled Let down by poor care and lack of communication
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 April 2025
I was taken to A&E at North Middlesex Hospital after a bad fall. When the ambulance arrived, the paramedics didn’t help me out, and I nearly collapsed trying to get down on my own. Inside the hospital, I waited for several hours on a trolley before receiving a brain scan and an x-ray. Unfortunately, the x-ray missed a fracture in my arm, which was only identified a week later at a follow-up appointment. This delay affected my recovery. The hospital said they couldn’t manage my care fully and arranged for me to be transferred to another hospital. However, this was done in a minicab, with no medical supervision, which didn’t feel safe. At the follow-up appointment, there were more long delays. Some staff came across as quite abrupt and seemed more focused on discussing their workload than supporting patients. Communication between teams was poor, and many patients were left unsure about what was happening. Overall, I left feeling neglected, disappointed and frustrated. Based on my experience, I have no confidence in the care provided at this hospital.

Was a visit for a Colonoscopy and was extremely happy with the treatment I received. All staff were great explaining everything and answering all my questions. All staff were friendly and helpful.

Review titled Cardiology
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by NICOLA JAYNE JANES - Posted on 11 July 2024
On several occasions, I found it extremely difficult to get in touch with the cardiology team. Phone calls are often unanswered, and messages left with receptionists were not returned promptly, if at all. This makes it nearly impossible to get clarification on important health matters. The team of staff I have found incredible when I have had treatment but the communication is woeful. Even communicating via PALS makes no difference.

Review titled Quick surgery, great care and service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had cataract surgery and the nurses, Drs and surgeons were very thorough, and looked after me very well after surgery. Nurses did so much for me and I want to share my gratitude to everyone in the ward.

Review titled Incompetent and dishonest
Rated 1 star out of 5

Came to hospital for urgent care due to chest pain. Ecg bloods taken and then sent to main waiting area to be seen by a dr. Several hours later, after enquiring, told that dr had called out and also telephoned but did not get a response, and I was marked as dna. Had to restart the whole process again, effectively meaning I was at the hospital for 12 hours, wasting hospital time and resources as well as my own time and racking up my parking charges.

Review titled Children A&E is a shame
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have to be 3 times in A&E to get my daughter admitted (Finally) and they can see that she was extremely bad with infection and risk of apendicitis. The first times was so easy for them say: give her mint tea to release her pain and second time another no professional advice. After that everything go “smoothly” but honestly they are gonna put your kid on limit and then they do something. Parents be careful and put pressure for your kids. Some staff there are angels and very professional and other they are to do nothing and get pay. The end of this history is they left me any tear inside of my eyes.

Review titled Failed bureaucracy
by Elizabeth M Sharp - Posted on 21 February 2024
I received a text informing me of the date and time of a blood test which is to take place on the 26th Feb. Unfortunately this text has nothing to do with me. I phoned the surgery and was given another number to phone which dealt with blood tests. I waited 15 minutes listening to dreadful music only to be told that even though I provided them with the date, and time of the test, they couldn't get in contact with the actual patient as I couldn't provide them with a patient number. The patient will therefore not know he / she has a blood test appointment and I was told to ignore the text message. In the year 2024 it seems ridiculous that it is impossible to match up an appointment time and date with an actual patient. This planet won't die as a result of environmental problems, it will die because of bureaucracy and ridiculous rules that bind organisations into inaction.

my mum had radiotherapy for 6 weeks. Though it has been a difficult journey for her, every single member of staff has been very courteous and kind. they have always answered any questions that we had without making us feel that any question was silly and we never felt rushed. They actually felt like family. Can't praise them enough. Thankyou for everything.
