I was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia and was seen by the consultant at South Shields Hospital. He explained what I needed and was very personable. On July 1st I went to the hospital for my operation. I was seen by the consultant, the anaesthetist and nursing staff who were very helpful and informative. I was taken down to the operating theatre where I met another nurse and the anaesthetist and the next thing I knew was waking up in the recovery room where another member of nursing staff looked after me and administered pain relief. She was very personable, helpful and put me completely at ease. I was then taken back to the ward by the nurse and another member of staff. The consultant came around to tell me how the operation had gone, answered my questions and advised me what to do. The efficient nursing staff took over and all was explained to me about after care, drugs prescribed, etc. I cannot praise too highly my treatment by all the staff. The cup of tea and toast were most welcome. What could have been a traumatic experience turned out not to be so. My sincere thanks to all the staff involved. They are a great credit to the Trust.

I attended South Tyneside Accident and Emergency in early March and was diagnosed with a torn right leg achilles tendon (shredded). The plaster staff were excellent and very helpful and I was referred to the Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics, at Sunderland, where I was seen by the Limb Reconstruction Specialist Physiotherapist (who was most knowledgeable, personable and very helpful. Explaining everything in a simple and precise way and fully answering any questions that I had. Both she and the other physiotherapist could not have given me better treatment. They were excellent and I cannot praise them too much. I am now on the road to recovery thanks to these members of staff who are a credit to the Trust and to the National Health Service.

Just visited endoscopy in Sunderland. Efficient and friendly service. Quick and painless procedure. Staff were very supportive and put me at ease. Private rooms are much better for dignity. Thank you once again for looking after me x

Attended a and e on Easter Sunday 6hour wait but received courteous care from all staff even though they weresobusyy especially from doctor that day the all deserve arise inwards and I will back the all the way thank you everyone

I attended on 13/03/23 for a gastroscopy and I wanted to pass on my thanks to all of the staff who looked after me on this occasion and also in January when I had my first one. The staff are so understanding and caring and really do their best to reassure you throughout the whole process. It's also a fantastic facility with your own individual room with own bathroom.

Full marks for my visit to the colonoscopy department on the morning of the 1st December 2022. Everyone concerned was professional and friendly, I was made to feel at ease and was kept fully informed before and after my procedure.
