    After a 9 day stay in QEH I was impressed with the kind, caring and efficient staff, including porters and cleaners and every one else. A shortage of beds - and pillows - were a constant problem. I was moved from resus to M ward? AMU, Windsor and Elm and apart from a few hours in M? I had the best of care. It amazed me the staff keep so smiley and kind with all the shortages of staff, noise from building work and all the other problems. The food had improved so much since my last visit a couple of years ago, and some of the vegetarian and vegan options were excellent. Cleaning seemed constant and thorough. Thank you all.

    Had appointment for 10am and had to sign myself out at 3pm as doctors to busy to see me till 6pm shocking service the place wasn’t even busy everyone just chatting Not happy!!!!!

    Arrived by ambulance, A & E very busy so a wait in the ambulance whose crew were excellent, reassuring and efficient Checked in due to being busy, I was on a bed in the corridor all night but staff kept checking me Finally moved to a ward for 4 days, all staff friendly and professional

    Came in by Ambulance. Was told after sitting on a chair for 30 mins bloods would be taken. These where but then sat on a trolley at least 2 hours. In these 2 hours i was told by the 1st of 6 doctors would be another set of bloods then x ray then see if i could go home. I would see 5 more doctors before i entered a ward and had to explain the story of what happened to each of them. Don't they communicate??? Once on the ward 6 hours later still no xray still no doctor to potentially discharge me. Also when i entered i had asked for a nicotine patch. 5 hours and no patch. So i discharged myself. Tuesday i went to norwich university hispital. Exact same procedure but with a huge difference. In the same time. 2 sets of bloods done to compare. Xray done. Nicotine patch done. Different doctors not asking what happened all knew from when i entered. Bp done every hour. Diabetes bloods done every hour. A dictor came to my bed 10pm and did an ultrasound and solved the problem. 03.00am the last dictor came gave me all clear to go after breakfast. With added meds. Kings lynn 1 out of 10 Norwich university hospital 11 out of 10. I notice the reviews on here 3 stars or less no comments. Which makes reviewing hypocritical. I am setting up a case for high courts.

    My wife is quite upset. Appointment at opthalmology department today was seen by a Doctor who was extremely rude and arrogant. On top of which he had not even looked at her notes and said "apart from glaucoma is there anything else wrong?" My wife has had 2 strokes leaving her vision extremely impaired. The chap should have at least been aware of that! If nothing else he should have training in manners and professionalism.

    I called an ambulance, which arrived in 15mins. I then went to SDEC and received very efficient and caring treatment. The staff, though very busy, were patient and caring. Excellent service from everyone.

  8. Review titled Poor Crisis Management In Blood Testing Department

    Whereas on the one hand three members of staff in the outpatients blood testing department were extremely caring to a very poorly pregnant lady today 15th March 2024, On the other hand, once several doctors’, several nurses and the crash team (I guess) had arrived within minutes, there was absolutely no need for the three members of staff who were taking blood tests to stop their work and bring the whole department to a standstill for one hour. Actually, it was visible that a couple of other pregnant ladies were struggling with having to wait so long, they were looking quite flushed and exasperated. The waiting room was full, and filling up, at one point at least 27 outpatients patiently waiting whilst the poorly lady was being tended to by several nurses, several doctors and the crash team whilst the blood test staff just stood around, they were not needed once the emergency medics arrived. Of course the very poorly lady’s respect and dignity had to be considered and yes, she was just inside the door of the blood testing room but surely the staff could have thought outside the box rather then bring the whole department to a “total standstill” in excess of one hour, for all waiting patiently. It was suggested that a portable screen was found to offer the poorly lady privacy and the blood tests to continue but there wasn’t one. Ok, well why not go find a portable screen from elsewhere ? It was suggested that they just use another room within the department and continue with the blood tests, there were two rooms right there not being used but there wasn’t a chair ! Ok, well call a porter to find three chairs so that the three members of staff could resume their task in hand, i.e. taking blood tests. No, none of this happened and it was absolutely ridiculous that one very poorly patient, through no fault of her own, couldn’t be put behind a portable screen or that the blood test staff couldn’t sort out chairs in the two empty rooms rather than have outpatients, several coming over from the maternity clinic, waiting, a complete standstill in excess of one hour. Appalling crisis management. Maybe the blood test department should learn from this and have a screen there “just incase” and a couple of spare chairs “just incase” an outpatient should take poorly.

    I gave birth unexpectedly in Kings Lynn as Cambridge was too busy. But I had the most amazing staff looking after me (6th/7th Feb 2024). I barely made it to the delivery ward and the baby was already with us within 30 minutes. Despite not having a lengthy conversation with the midwives due to the speedy delivery, I felt looked after and like if they knee everything about my pregnancy. I was then taken for the surgery and the team who gave me anaesthetists was amazing too - very caring, explaining everything multiple times (they even played some music for me!). We were then transferred to Brancaster Ward to recover and the staff there were brilliant. Very caring and passionate about their jobs. The food was good as well - and this is particularly important when you want to quickly recover from birth. Overall, despite a little bit of a stress at night that we had to go to a different hospital, I am happy I ended up in Kings Lynn. The individual approach and passionate staff member contributed towards it.
