Review titled Children and mother in tears due to comments from midwife!
by Anonymous - Posted on 01 January 2025
My wife was on ward 3 after having a c-section and delivering our beautiful baby daughter. When we got onto the ward after being with an absolutely amazing team in the surgical suite. We was met with a very rude midwife who just barked at us when visiting times was then left. I had my mother in law outside and asked if I could swap so she could be with her daughter and her 1st granddaughter. We was told this is not possible and she would have to wait until visiting in 20 mins. Deflated I went out and told the mother in law the bad news. When visiting time came we had our son and 2 adopted children come to meet their sister everyone was happy but then the same midwife stopped our 2 older children from coming in stating that "because your wife is not their birth mother they cant be on the ward!" My wife hearing this broke down crying as we was only outside the door to the room. My 2 older children also started crying at the disgusting comments made by a stranger about our family. Livid did not start to explain my feelings. What made it worse was after this no one came to check on baby or mom. It wasn't until the night shift staff came on and checked her that they found out she had been sitting in a massive puddle of blood and had to change her bedding. The aftercare has been shocking if we have another child we will not be coming back to this hospital. To have a girl born on new years eve and be the 1st girl in 4 generations to have the end of an amazing day shattered and have all my family in tears will be something I will never forget or forgive...

Review titled Poor admin of appointments
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 November 2024
Today I received a letter notifying me of a change to how appointments are made by the hospital. The change is to 'partial booking'. It appears that 'partial booking' actually means no booking or a booking sometime in the future. It remains to be seen whether this change is as effective as claimed. In the meantime, my planned appointment, which I have used to plan around, is now cancelled. I am to wait until five weeks before some unknown date, to receive a replacement appointment. I have not been given the promised 'approximate timeline'. Absolutely useless. How long is a piece of string?

Review titled Better Customer Service Experience
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Beaumont69 - Posted on 12 October 2024
Apart from the excellent care that my mom's recieving from dedicated professionals after suffering a major stroke. The hospitals facilities it provides are well below the standard for this type of hospital, only three lifts available for 1,000 plus bed wards, yet only one lift working all week. The lift lobby area on the ground floor is way too small to deal with the huge demand on staff, patients and families whilst trying to visit a loved one. I experienced on three consecutive days I used the lift with my wife, 5,10,15 minutes just waiting for any lift to arrive. Also went to organise a wheelchair for my wife, non existent, had to go searching for one. Also the distance in travel to get there is not on anyones doorstep, I also don't feel the design of the hospital is ideally suitable for what a hospital should look like. My overall rating of the hospital is between 4/5 out of ten. Compared to my local hospital where I live, although it's not a major huge hospital. But at least for 300 plus beds it has, adequate lifts available, that all work. Also easy to get too.

Calm and informative approach to the procedures that needed to be given to me. Constant observation and dialogue explaining what was happening. Also the interactions made me feel safe and respected. Very important in keeping my anxiety uncontrol. This approach and care continued whilst on CCU.
