Review titled Lancaster ED is not fit for purpose
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Another disappointed patient - Posted on 05 September 2024
Within 8 hours of being told nothing was wrong with me ( all they did was took bloods) I was admitted into not another hospital near my family . The staff really don’t care and spend time sipping tea and chatting at the nurse station . The speak About you in ear shot of other patients the simple is no privacy, no respect , and they aren’t clearly not safe. I was admitted somewhere else where the care was 100% better. If I were you if you can drive past Lancaster and keeping going to Preston you will be safer. If they can’t get it right at the front door then you have to feel sorry for the the non emergency service that’s are run by the hospital )outpatient and inpatients who are getting tarnished with the same brush due to the lack lustre approach to care, privacy and dignity.

I visited the Endoscopy Unit at Furness General Hosptal for a colonoscopy. All the staff on the unit I came into contact with were excellent. The procedure was explained very clearly to me and staff were very supportive and kind throughout the procedure and in recovery. Thankyou to all the staff.

Review titled Not very great!
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 27 March 2023
I attended Same Day Emergency Treatment and the nurses and consultants were amazing, they kept in touch and telling me what was happening next and how long I was to wait. I felt "seen". One of the consultants actually stayed beyond her working time to give me my CT Scan results herself which I appreciated. Then come lunch time! I did not know that patients receive lunch in the large waiting room. There are hot drinks to help yourself if you are able and someone helping to make drinks for unable patients and ensure there was milk and hot water throughout. All patients had a visible hand band with their name on. The staff handing over sandwich bags could be seen asking some people if they were patients and handing them sandwich bags. I was seated next to a lady, she was asked and no one bothered to ask me or hand me some lunch. It was not all about the lunch, but I feel that I should have been asked too, I felt discriminated and overlooked at that point. Its just the principal courtesy. All am saying is please treat people the same because that small incident dented all the amazing services I received that day. It made me angry, I thought I was there since 8.30am with everyone else in the room and I was the only one overlooked?

Hi there, thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that your experience at the hospital was negatively impacted and that you felt overlooked and discriminated against. This is certainly not what we expect for any of our patients. I have passed your comments on and they will be used to help us learn and improve in the future. Thank you again.

Review titled Amazing service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Caroline Milne - Posted on 29 January 2023
I had to take my Father in Law to A&E last week as he had had a fall in the night. We arrived first thing in the morning and were seen immediately. He had all the scans and tests, and was seen by various doctors, an OT and other staff who liaised with community services. Everyone who dealt with him was incredibly kind, caring, professional and efficient. We were there all day, but everything was done in the end, and the outcomes were positive and helpful. We are incredibly lucky to have this service - I want to thank all the staff that work in A&E and LRI for their amazing service.

Review titled Not great
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Was taken to a&e on Tuesday and received excellent care could not fault it. Was told I had rsv and was advised to return if I struggled to breathe again. The Wednesday night I could not breathe so I went back to a&e. When I saw the doctor he said "You only have the flu you should have just stayed at home and drunk fluids". I was disgusted and upset by this remark as I was struggling to breathe and was told to come back if I was struggling again. He brushed my symptoms off and told me I just had the flu and to get over it basically. Due to this I shall not be returning even if I have a medical emergency, I would rather travel somewhere else to receive care that is acceptable.

Review titled Appalling lack of communication!
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Mrs P - Posted on 25 November 2022
I took the day off work and drove 65 miles to my mid- morning appointment, paid to park the car and was astonished to then discover my appointment with Rheumatology had been Cancelled! I was told I 'must been told by telephone ...No! If not by telephone', 'then I would have received a letter'...No! What an appalling waste of time, money and effort, with no reason provided. Totally unacceptable.
