My mother was transferred to baycroft kempston specifically for end of life palliative care. It was fast tracked, funded & arranged by nhs chc (continuing health care) under the bedford, luton & milton keynes icb (integrated care board) Having transferred from milton keynes my mother lost her legal right of access to a gp & medication. My mother lost her right of access to palliative care even though she was on the palliative care register in mk simply because she moved across a county boarder. Baycroft Nursing Home, kempston, beds failed to register my mother with a gp or complete temporary gp registration that would have afforded my mother access to the services. As a result, my mother did not receive palliative care at Baycroft and suffered unnecessarily. This review is written for the purpose of public awareness that the services of gp, access to medication & palliative care are not transferable across the icb. The care ceases on transfer. The patient is at the behest of a care institution that may not be proactive in organising services as in the case of baycroft kempston, now renamed fernleigh court.
