After a lengthy wait since the physio referred me It was a pleasure to today attend an appointment with the Patient Appliance Service at the Appleby Health Centre. I missed my train so phoned the centre to advise I might be a few minutes late. They dealt with this courteously and sympathetically. As it turned out I arrived bang in time and was amazed that I was seen almost immediately. The Orthotist was friendly right from the start introducing themselves in a humble yet dignified way. They took care to examine my weak knee both in dynamic use and at rest. Their explanations of what they deduced were very clear and made sense. They constantly involved me too and ended up finding a fairly unobtrusive knee brace. They watched me walk and stand with the brace on and then also suggested I try some heel supports to help ease the tightness at the back of my legs. My initial impressions were that my knee felt more able to find the natural resting position which had been lost since the injury. The consultation didn’t feel hurried but was very efficient with very little wasted time. My walk to the train station felt encouraging too. So this interaction felt like a textbook example of how things should be in an NHS Community setting. I had previously had a very poor experience with a Dermatologist at Appleby around 10 years ago, they had talked down to be and quickly dismissed my condition without proper consideration, the condition subsequently worsened. Because of this I had been a little anxious about returning to Appleby but there was no need. The service today was excellent, thank you to the receptionist and the Orthotist.

I really want to thank the phlebotomist and staff for their quick response when my daughter went into shock after her blood test. Amazing staff took care of my daughter and me and were so patient dealing with us even though there were other patients waiting. Truly professional and caring. Thank you so much!

After my blood test, they reported to my gp that I have an STI, I got tested from a private facility and found out I don’t have an STI. I checked the logs of my test on NHS app, they have reported that I submitted my blood sample on 1st November 2022, when I submitted my blood sample on 17th of November. Apparently they swapped my results/blood sample with someone else. On top of that, I submitted my blood sample on 17th of November and was told that if I don’t hear back, that means everything is fine. They reported the results to my GP on 17th of January. two months after giving the sample, for a simple blood test? The centre should bd closed, its causing more harm than helping people

Receptionists at this clinic need to take some communication and customer service classes! They are absolutely awful!
