Review titled Extremely poor service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 July 2024
I had tonsillitis numerous times throughout my life. Come to the out of service in Banbury on Sunday, and for the last few days I had extremely sore throat, enlarged tonsils, fever, night time sweats, headache, swollen neck. During the visit I was firstly checked by the nurse, and afterwards she invited GP. I have asked for antibiotics as this is the usual treatment, however GP wanted to prescribe be Codeine... I am not sure why would strong highly addictive painkillers would be prescribed for tonsillitis treatment, but I found that very odd. I have not had antibiotics for the last 4 years, so I have assumed there would be no issue in prescribing those, and treating the illness, rather that giving a patient pain relief, even though they agreed i have enlanged tonsils and white spots on them. GP was very passive aggressive when speaking to me, which made me feel very uncomfortable. Very very weird and unwelcoming experience like I have never seen anywhere else. Avoid avoid as much as possible.

Review titled Great service

My 4 year old son was poorly and he was experiencing new symptoms. I rang 111 when he got new symptoms and they referred me to the Fiennes out of hours department at the Horton in Banbury. We got there and the staff were polite and reassured us that the doctor will not be long. We didn’t wait too long as we had an appointment. When the doctor saw my son - she was aware as to what had been happening and checked my son throughly and assessed him and made him feel comfortable. My son was able to communicate to her as to how he was feeling. The doctor had spent time and listened and we came out of there reassured and that my son will be ok. Brilliant!

Review titled Excellent
Rated 5 stars out of 5

An absolute excellent service! I was referred to the Fiennes Centre for the second time this back holiday weekend through 111. I received the best care I could have asked for. The team were extremely busy, rushed off their feet but still able to go above and beyond for my needs and reassurance. One nurse in particular I would of liked to name (apparently no names allowed on here), she is an absolute credit to the team there and honestly gave me the best health care service I have ever received in my life time! Whilst having a bad cough, I stood outside the waiting area so not to upset other patients. This Nurse recognised this straight away and got me a cup of water. Once I had calmed myself down, she called me over and quickly showed me some resident foxes out the back and told me about their cubs. This was a welcomed distraction from my chest infection and diabetes episode. Not only this but whilst rushing around working she made sure to give me an update on the GP seeing me every time she walked past the waiting room. The GP was excellent, calm, understanding and we formed a plan going forward. I was reassured that I could call and return if I had any concerns or symptoms changed. I felt looked after, well informed, and cared about. Fantastic experience!

Sent to out of ours Fiennes Centre with my 1 year old after calling 111. The staff were wonderful. From the lady who checked us in the the doctor who checked him over. I couldn’t fault them. I waited all of about 5 mins to be seen. It was last thing on a Saturday, early evening & everyone was happy friendly & professional. They even gifted my son a teddy when he was upset after being examined. 5/5 a++. Thank you to them all!!
