  2. Review titled Obnoxious receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

Took my 86 year old mother to the phlebotomy department today after a referral from her doctor resulting from the results of her Cat scan. The blood test was marked urgent. As we entered the busy department, we approached the reception and gave the receptionist her details. We were met with an attitude of negativity and borderline hostility as we were told that her name was not on her system, my mother’s doctors must be to blame and that there is a ‘glitch’ on the system, it’s always happening and that we will have to return to my mother’s doctors (a couple of miles away) and get it rectified. I tried to explain the situation and the urgency for the blood tests but it was to no avail. I was curtly told that she understood our situation but she’s had to refuse quite a number of people today and that we were no different. Again I tried to explain and tried to emphasise the fact that a very frightened and worried 86 year old woman needed an urgent blood test that had been organised and referred by a very concerned doctor and we had also travelled a number of miles but alas this woman would not be moved, showed no helpfulness or empathy whatsoever. Quite the opposite really. We had to then return to my mother’s doctors who were rightly outraged by this woman’s attitude and unwillingness to help my mother’s predicament. Her doctor booked another blood test but in another medical centre as my mother was very uncomfortable returning to the Breeze Hill centre because of the obnoxious woman behind reception.

  3. Review titled Long delay/great blood test team

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Attended appointment promptly at 11.45am. Reported myself to reception and waited 30 mins and when I grew tired of patients who came in after me being called in by nurse and by this time the reception had rolled down the shutter on the reception desk for lunch. I questioned the nurse and it had turned out that I had been put down on the system and her tablet as a did not attend. The nurse was lovely and helpful and saw to me straight away. I like the online appointment option because it provides more opportunities for blood test and reduces wait times for appointment and in the clinic. Although this oversight defeats the obvious. And fails to deliver in the NHS and cqc desired patient delivery service. Which as an NHS worker myself who understands this requirement for this as a failing. Can I complement the NHS nurse/HCA and the team on their hard work and her exemplary and prompt service and I hope like most healthcare practitioners that they receive a pay rise
