Review titled No appointments, No urgency

I have been at this practice my entire life, and to say it has gone downhill is an understatement. You can never get an appointment, and if you do, it is most likely a phone consultation. You never see the same doctor unless you ask, so you have to explain your health history to them each time. There is no personal feeling with a doctor or nurse (although there are some great doctors and nurses there). When you get into the reception you are the only one in the waiting room, and you still never get into the consultation room on time. The biggest issue other than having no appointments is that reception staff talk to you like doctors/nurses. I understand they need to know why you are calling to put you to the right clinician, but they give you advice as if they are pharmacists. The perfect example is when I phoned on a Friday because my throat had started to close up and was sore and swollen, my body was aching and I had a headache, no appointments and was told to take paracetamol and ibuprofen and gargle saltwater by the receptionist (I was already taking ibuprofen and paracetamol) and these symptoms had came on quick, I was quite worried, was told to use dissolvable paracetamol instead by the receptionist... Woke up Saturday 10 times worse and spent over 3 hours in A&E, diagnosed with strep throat and needed an ECG. I am looking at leaving them now as this has happened to me on multiple occasions and I am frightened of going to A&E each time I need to go to my doctors, which is not what A&E is for.
