  1. Review titled Superb surgical procedure

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lynne Willis - Posted on 23 July 2024

My 95 mum attended her appointment today, to have a basal carcinoma removed from her back. The standard of care and treatment received was outstanding, both from the specialist nurse, and from the lady assisting her. Everything was discussed in depth, and the procedure itself was done so professionally and carefully. I was able to attend, and stay with my mum. Before we left, everything was thoroughly explained, including what will happen at the follow up appointment : in ten days time. The external stitches will be removed on that occasion. Mum would like to express her gratitude, for an exceptionally high standard of care and attention.

  2. Review titled Rude receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

Regarding my smear test appointment, the text reminder and Patient Access App stated that my appointment would be at Deerness Park address. I took the morning off work and waited over 20 minutes in the waiting room to then find out that my appointment was actually booked at Bunny Hill and I couldn’t be seen and I’d have to come back the next day again to Deerness Park. I rang Bunny Hill to try understand what happened and the receptionist was extremely unpleasant to me, said she can’t explain what’s happened and when I said my preference was Bunny Hill I was told I’d have to wait 2 weeks for the new appointment, even though it wasn’t my fault that they made an error in the first place. Totally unacceptable to speak to patients the way I was spoken to as well, as I was already very anxious about having my first ever smear test. Horrible experience and now I’m feeling more nervous than ever!

  3. Review titled Terrible

Rated 1 star out of 5

Brought my 2 yr old into surgery hoping to get her temperature checked. Receptionist very sternly said we don't do urgent care and have to go to walk in centre. I said I was hoping just to get temperature took as I never had transport this day again she replied with her horrible attitude saying urgent care only. I was very distressed upset and thinking what she would be like with any of her children. Looking around the surgery there was nobody in the waiting room and would of took 30 seconds to have her temperature took. Maybe needs some compassionate training or a ounce of care. Wouldn't of cared if was myself but a toddler who is upset unwell come on get a grip.

My wife fell and sustained a bad head injury recently and we were told to go to bunny hill. Receptionist was offhand, almost rude and told us nobody could or would help us! We attended Queen Elizabeth hospital at Gateshead and were welcomed and received comprehensive assessment and treatment in a short time.
