Review titled Unsupportive and uncaring
Rated 1 star out of 5

Absolutely appalling from start to finish. Our daughter had an appointment for some emergency bloods to be taken, with everything going on we forgot to bring a slip of paper given to us from the out of hours Doctor. We explained this and the lady at the reception ‘tutted’ and said it would be easier for you to rebook. We explained we had put on the prescribed numbing cream from the Doctor. The blood nurse came through to the reception area as we explained what happened and she replied as she was turning round “Well that’s not my problem!” And shut the door. May sound like an immediate complaint response from an angry patient, however it’s much deeper. How did the Blood Nurse and receptionist know what we was testing for, or the severity? I am for one not surprised if the raise in people being late diagnosed from lazy and uncaring NHS team members. Currently following the complaints procedure but yet the hear in response from anyone who cares from the practice. We are told to treat NHS Staff with respect but what about respect for us. Our own doctors practice were absolutely appalled on hearing about this and encouraging us to complain as they have heard this too many times from Chandler House.

Review titled No ‘be kind’ from Chandler House’.
by Chloe Heaton - Posted on 24 October 2024
My daughter has ASD and was very apprehensive about her blood test. In the stress of attending, we forgot the blood form - which was our responsibility, I know. However, we arrived with 15mins to spare with a very rude receptionist at the Kumar Practice. He made us wait and didn't knowledge us for the first 3-4 minutes of being stood at the desk. Then, once my daughter coughed twice he then only engaged with us and said “I won’t be a moment”. We waited another 2or so minutes and then asked for directions for the blood desk (we haven’t been before). We headed to the community bloods desk and I realised I had forgotten the blood form. My daughter was fully loaded with the numbing cream and I was only just able to settle her. I explained my situation to the receptionist whom told me it would be easier to re-book an appointment. This wouldn’t be easier for us as my daughter will be back in school on Monday. This was suggested even before the receptionist had consulted the blood nurse. In a panic, I rang my drs to see if they could send over the form to the receptionist and whilst this happened, the receptionist spoke with the blood nurse and I heard her say “if they don’t have a form it isn’t my problem!” Not very helpful or ‘kind’. There was also a lady that was struggling that was walking with support. She was waiting some time and informed the receptionist that if her name is called, she is just heading to the bathroom. Of course her name gets called as soon as she heads to the toilet but again, the receptionist informs the blood nurse and the blood nurse tuts and storms off saying “right!” How is this ok? Where is the support? Bedside manner? I felt awful for the lady that went for a bathroom break. She then went to the receptionist and asked if she could go through and the receptionist rolled her eyes and said “go straight through”. After trying to think of every alternative with my drs on the phone too - they were not interested. I understand that I needed that form but I felt no respect, empathy or compassion from either the receptionist OR the blood nurse. We are all told on signs, waiting on the phones and even online that we need to treat our service staff with respect but as a family, we received nothing! I will never subject my children, husband or myself to this service centre again. I would also advise others to tread carefully when seeking advice or support from staff whom work under this roof. I can’t say all the staff are like this but when you are front of house, you are representing the NHS and this has put me off coming to this health centre again. Such a shame, and now I need to support my daughter through this process again in the morning. Luckily at a centre she is more familiar with.

I would always sing praises about marus bridge practice as they have always been absolutely great. However this morning I asked for an appointment for my nonverbal son who seems to be holding his ear got turned away and told to go the chemist, I massively don't agree with this. Never have I ever been turned away.
