  1. Review titled Frustrating experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 October 2024

Was advised to book a face to face appointment following a phone consultation but after travelling for nearly 2 hours to attend, it was apparent that this appointment could also have been a phone consultation. I had to push to have any kind of follow up advice and felt the doctor was dismissive of my concerns.

  2. Review titled Very efficient service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 March 2024

Very efficient from going to see my GP to seeing an eye specialist. Automated confirmations of appointments, but very helpful when the specialist phoned twice to discuss my condition and answer my questions. The service on the day was great, with all my questions answered, and good advice given, despite not having the expected procedure, as my circumstances had changed.

  3. Review titled Care was good but waiting times for appt appalling

by Susan Willett - Posted on 20 April 2024

In November 2023 my optomertist advised me to make an appt at the hospital to have my pressures checked as she found them to be high. I have been attending DCH eye dept for many years. When I rang I was told that my appt was not due till April 2024 and my GP would have to request an appt. I then received an appt from CHEC for the end of January 2024 for a field test and pressure check. This was done and I was advised that I would receive a doctor's appt within two weeks. I waited several weeks for the appt but in the end rang CHEC to find out when I would be seen. I was told there were no doctors available and the first appt available was 19th April 2024. This is five months after I was advised to have my pressures checked as it had risen considerably. I saw the the doctor on 19th April and he performed various tests and concluded that I needed further different eye drops to help the pressure . He asked me which service I would prefer, CHEC or the hospital. I would have preferred to be seen by the hospital but as I was there decided to proceed with CHEC on the understanding I could be referred back to DCH if I wished. The doctor rang DCH at this time but they had no appts available. I felt the care I received was good but at the hospital I have my tests and then immediately seen by the doctor. When attending CHEC yesterday there was no one in the building except the doctor which I feel is not in accordance with normal practice of having another member of staff within call at a consultation of a close personal nature. It would appear that not sufficient staff are employed by this limited company.

Dear Susan Willett, Thank you for your review. It is never our intention for our patients to deem any part of our service as negative. We do however appreciate your comments and will take them on board to ensure we continually improve patient experience. Where patients have multiple appointments, we will always aim to book these on the same day and location, however it may not always be possible and this will always be communicated to our patients at the time of booking. Should you wish to discuss any concerns further please feel free to email us on chec.quality@communityeyecare.org.uk or call on 0344 264 4160.

  4. Review titled Problem with communication and opening hours

Rated 3 stars out of 5

    by Andrew F - Posted on 12 January 2024

Received no letter about an appointment in 2022 following my eye-test, although a report was sent to my GP surgery. This could,of course, have been a Royal Mail problem- i.e.delivery to wrong address. Also, I have visited them twice recently and found them closed at times when according to their advertised hours they should have been open. Meanwhile I have received advance notice of an eye appointment at Dorset County Hospital ( no date yet set),so am feeling more than a little confused. Do they have my email address?

  5. Review titled Worst Appointment system I have ever experienced

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by DAVID HOLLISTER - Posted on 04 May 2023

Needed to amend an appointment. The telephone number provided was not answered for 24 hours despite trying at all different times of the day. No facility to email the clinic. A button to 'confirm' but no button to 'reject'. This has happened on each appointment with CHEC since they took this business over. You should be ashamed of the lack of communication. Fortunately, your staff are a great deal better than your organizational system. I am now having to write an old-fashioned letter to the clinic to let them know I can't make it. Annoyed, and disappointed

  6. Review titled Apalling contact system

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Michael John Ellery - Posted on 13 July 2023

CHEC send me 2 text messages while I was in europe to book. I get home and try and book by entering my dob and it will not accept. I ring their central number and they say they will phone within 28 days of receiving no reply. A joke as I did my best but their system is inadequate for the job. Having said that the staff in dorchester are very good and efficient!

  7. Review titled Pleasant staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andrew Raymond - Posted on 13 March 2023

I have always found the staff to be very pleasant. Waiting times are not long, I never have to wait more than a few minutes, there are usually a few people there to chat with, which is nice. I am very pleased with the service from CHEC and the eye testing is very good.
