Left waiting after not even being spoken to but pointed to direction. After waiting 30 minutes I received a call to cancel appointment - 30 minutes after appointment time. Disgusting treatment

Review titled IUS fitting - Extreme Pain, No warning, pain relief/Comfort
by Anonymous - Posted on 27 March 2024
I attended the sexual health clinic for an IUS fitting. I was told I might experience mild pain to moderate pain. Instead the pain I experienced was the worst pain I have ever felt in my entire life. It was a similar level of pain to when I fractured my elbow but constant (instead of in the initial 5mins for the injury) and went on for over 2 hours later. During the appointment I was screaming, shaking and crying and gagging from almost throwing up. I wasn't offered any pain relief. Not even over the counter medication. During the appointment instead of comforting me the nurse was discussing her holiday with the assistant. She also told me off for swearing when I was screaming out in intense pain. After the appointment I tried to get home. It took me 2 hours to make a 35 minute journey because I kept throwing up from the pain and I was unable to walk. I kept trying to walk but found myself collapsing on the floor in extreme agony. I bled through my trousers as noone told me to prepare for lots of bleeding. I feel completely traumatised by the experience and keep having flashbacks and panic attacks about the experience. Noone explained to me that I would experience such extreme pain and I cannot believe I wasn't offered any comfort or pain relief. It was truly a traumatising experience and had I known I would never have had an IUS fitted.
