Review titled Too many delays

There needs to be more joined up thinking when you are in the process of having tests. This year it took me nearly 3 weeks to get an Dr appointment. They said I needed blood tests, so then it took me almost 2 weeks to get an appointment with a nurse. Then had to wait another week for results. Basically 6 weeks to find out if an issue had been identified by that blood test. Then was referred to hosp for tests which took another 4 weeks. No one came back to me so 3 weeks after the hosp app I rang to ask if results were back yet, was told no. So waited another 3 weeks. Still heard nothing so then I booked a GP appointment anyway which took nearly another 3 weeks. To be told oh yes got your results back a while ago. So why did no one tell me! Almost 5 months so far and still no nearer to getting answers. Waiting for more tests now! Just hope it’s not something too serious like cancer! Seriously when someone goes down the pathway of investigations there needs to be a timely joined up thinking of checks and referrals and appointments. Plus ringing patients with results or some sort of notification.

Review titled Mixed feelings

It takes around 3 weeks on average to get an appointment. I suppose I should be grateful I can get one at all but it’s not good enough. Recently I had to book an appointment to see a nurse, when I finally arrived on the day I was surprised that it was a man! This was not mentioned when I booked the appointment! If you book to see a doctor you are told if it’s a man or a woman and can book accordingly. But when I booked the nurse nothing was said! I cancelled as I felt uncomfortable with that. I was asked if I wanted a chaperone but then who is that going to be? Not a doctor as they are all busy with other patients. And no thanks I don’t want an unqualified receptionist or the practice manager hovering around me! Please can the practice say it’s a male nurse and ask if that ok when the appointments are booked. I believe the nurses are typically used for smear tests, ECGs, mother and baby checks and other more routine intimate things!
