I feel grateful to have such a service available to my family locally, but there is a lot that can be improved on. I get that the NHS is overstretched, but even the queuing system upon entering the building isn’t clear; signs would definitely help this as some people were told to queue for triage, and then others were being sent to the desk to register and then skipped the queue. Some staff knowledge contradicted NHS guidelines - like telling me my 3 month old exclusively breastfed baby needed water because it was hot, or that I can’t take antibiotics because I breastfeed (I was told this gem of information in the waiting room in front of about 20 other people waiting in ear shot). The general attitude of some people there as well feels like they are being let down by the system, and you can’t blame them, but it doesn’t fill you with confidence when you have gone to a service seeking help and are met with ignorance and sarcasm. To add, on more than one occasion there has not been a doctor on sight or no one available to carry out x-rays, meaning I then had to travel to a nearby hospital after waiting to find this out in triage. An online system stating which services are available daily (or even a sign when you get there) would help and save people travelling unnecessarily). Hopefully this comment is read and some points are taken on board, as on each visit I am not the only person in the waiting room saying these things.
