I had an appointment today for breast screening. The receptionist was very welcoming & polite. The nurse who carried out the screening was very, polite, professional & patient. Great service.

  2. Review titled Breast screening `Smart` clinic doesn't seem very smart

I would advise reviewing the way the clinic timings are organized where you invite everyone to be seen within a 45 minute slot to turn up at one time at the beginning of the time period. from what the staff told us, I understand this is the concept of the `smart' clinic. it results in a lot of people arriving at once resulting inevitably in insufficient seating and the majority having to wait for a long period of time. I waited over an hour and during that time two people arrived and left immediately upon discovering how long they would have to wait for (without a seat). at the overlap of timeslots when we had a lot of people from the 10.02am slot still waiting with the new 10.42am batch arrived there were a lot of people crowded around which seems like not very smart idea. I attempted to wash my hand or sanitise them on the way out, having waited for so long in a crowded space, but there was no soap in the wc and no sanitizer in the pump dispenser at the entrance. Staff noted that the `smart` clinic was useful if patients didn't turn up or cancelled at the last minute but I don't feel that is a good reason to organize those that do in this manner. I am very grateful to receive screening of this nature on the NHS - its great -but to miss a morning of work to sit for over an hour for an 8 minute procedure due to this method of corralling patients does not make sense to me. There may be some organizational benefit your end, although I simply can't imagine what this is, and certainly, from a patient point of view, it is very wasteful of time
