Review titled Do not see Nurse Practitioner
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 December 2024
I arrived at 10 on Sunday 8th December, the wait time was only 45 minutes which I thought was very good Unfortunately when seen by the Nurse Practitioner she was very dismissive and uncaring. After saying I had asthma and a continuous cough for 4 weeks she dismissed me as having a virus. I attend my own GP today after having a horrendous night They have prescribed me antibiotics and steroids and are arranging a chest xray. My temperature was also 38.9 which she said was very high. How can your Nurse Practitioner have missed all those symptoms?

Review titled Extremely helpful

I came with severe back pain on new years eve. The reception team sorted a wheel chair out straight away, I got to see the nurse who was very thorough, listened to my problems and history of struggling from a sports injury with muscle strain and how I've tried to manage the pain. She was very informative, I felt much clearly for a course of action to help get to the bottom of the cause of the pain and didn't just prescribe me some pain meds. She was down to earth, kind and patient. Forgive my broken grammar, it's hard to focus with the pain. However I would feel more than confident to visit this clinic again and I'm appreciative that it was available after not having any joy with getting an appointment to see my gp. Thankyou all the staff there.

Review titled Disappointed

I personally found the nurse that saw me very dismissive and a little patronising unfortunately. I can accept that sometimes there are illness’, virus’, symptoms that can’t be treated immediately or with medication. However, I would like to feel that all my symptoms were listened to and considered before making a prognosis - as a health care professional I would expect this to be of highest priority- to listen. Very disappointed by this kind of behaviour and will not return or recommend this place due to this experience.

Sit and wait. But staff got through patients swiftly. Clean. Lift available. Carpark pay and display close by. Great service when unable to get GP appointment or have health problem that worsens over weekend. Thank you for your help today.

Review titled Walk in centers are great

Been trying to get my mum in to see her GP for last few days, usual 08:30 mad rush. Anyway 68 calls later this morning and managed to get through but no appointments. Referred to the walk in centre on Kings Street in Wakefield. Went after lunch, nobody waiting so she saw the GP straight away and referred to local Barnsley hospital for an x ray. Cannot fault this service. It what we need in Barnsley but the one we did have proved so popular they closed it down, thank you Wakefield

Review titled First visit to a Walk in Centre - 5 star experience.
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was advised to attend the Walk in centre in Wakefield as it was a weekend, and my doctors were closed. I was really impressed with how slick the service was. From walking in to leaving I was completely happy. The waiting area seemed busy and I envisaged a long wait. However the Receptionist had told me the wait may be about an hour as there were 3 ANPs working that day. I was called in after less than 40 mins and the person I saw was friendly, yet very professional. I was there as I had developed a rash which I thought may be Shingles. He put my mind at rest, and said straight away that it definitely wasn't shingles. He gave me a thorough examination and told me I had Scarlet Fever. It was as well I had attended when I did, as I was given a prescription for 2 lots of tablets including antibiotics. The waiting area was pleasant and clean ,and the girl on Reception was very accommodating. All in all, this is the first time I have used a walk in service, and I came away thinking how lucky we are that the NHS provide us with this extra layer of comfort when needed.

Review titled Terrible
Rated 1 star out of 5

Arrived at 7.30pm after being referred by 111 to be told there was no appointments left even though it shuts at 10pm. Reception staff rude and unprofessional and asking me why I have come here infront of the whole waiting room. This is the second time I have been turned away when coming a number of hours before this service shuts. They need to put on their website that they are taking no more patients, also let 111 know for them to stop sending patients and making them travel long distances to be turned away, or at the bare minimum put a sign on the front door saying no appointments left. Why have a walk in service if you can’t walk in????
