  1. Review titled Refused mitomycin bladder wash

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 September 2024

Was due to have a biopsy and mitomycin bladder wash for reoccurrence. Didn't get a biopsy as they couldn't reach it and it was too much trouble. They refused mitomycin bladder wash that I had been promised after turbt. The reason was 'because you've had some in the past so you can't have any more'. Looking to transfer to another hospital. It was Friday afternoon and they wanted me gone. The surgeon didn't even bother to update me, I had to complain as soon as I woke up and force her to come and reluctantly update me that she had not done as expected during the op. So we'll have to guess what grade is was because she just burnt it. Thanks for nothing

  2. Review titled Disapointed

by Peter Derek Cross - Posted on 23 August 2024

I gave a one-star review a few days ago because the department failed to reply to my surgery messages to them. Within hours I received an apology email and a form asking if I still needed an appointment, to which I answered yes. My hopes were raised, there might be an end to the pain and leakage I am suffering from. Silly me they have ignored all communication from Northampton General Hospital and my doctor, why? I have no idea but if I was to guess I would think it has to do with targets: If they replied and gave me an appointment then their standards could be monitored, and ignoring my problem improves their ratings. I may be wrong but a public service like this ignoring requests to respond to questions for months is not what one expects.

  3. Review titled Poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 August 2024

I have been treated by Northampton General Hospital for prostate cancer and subsequently by flexible cystoscopy for strictures causing immense pain through attempts to pass urine up to 30 times a day. NGH says they have passed my case on to Leicester as they have the specialists for my problem. Months have passed despite my local surgery chasing the referral and sending expedite letters they have received no response to the referral. Meanwhile I have been treated with morphine and co-codamol and double up with pain day and night. The so called expertise at Leicester remains dumb to all attempts to communicate I even paid for a consultation with a Urologist at the Three Shires who basically said you need to see the experts in Leicester. So I remain in pain with nowhere to turn.

Thank you to all the consultants and nursing teams for your excellent care and the thorough and understandable explanations I was given from my initial Urology outpatient consultation prior to attending ward 28a and undergoing the subsequent investigations, I was treated with the utmost kindness & dignity throughout by everyone.

  6. Review titled Litrothripsy treatement

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Cristina Iftinchi - Posted on 30 January 2024

all story start in december when my mother arrive with ambulance after 16 hours of waiting for them. they take her to a&e there we have to wait another 12 hours where they did ct scan and x-ray and they found that she have a kidney stone stack on the uretra. They send her to general hospital to ward 28 after in the morning they told us that she have 3 options 1 litrothripsy 2 Stent 3 nefrostomy. She say that she want to do the 1 but after they find out that the machine is not working and we had to wait for the appointment. after few weeks we recived an appointment with a consultant how explain that is very risky to stay like this with the kidney and she can have sepsis or damage to the kidney his advice it was to do the stent or nefrostomy. but I explain to him that mother is scare to do general anesthesya and she will prefer to try first something witch is not invasive .we was waiting for the appointment for the machine 1 month we been to the appointment but they coudn't see the stone any more so they did another x-ray and still they can't see it so they say it may be that the stone move or it get pass .They recomanded to do again a ct scan and then after we have to wait again to book her .I ask them but why you don't do the ct scan today and see where is the stone then by the time we will wait for the appointment what will happends if the stone will move again and also now is not at risk of sepsis and what if the machine will not work again and she will be in emergency baisicaly is forced to do something that she don't wanted to do because she will not be able to stay with the pain. I really don't understand this way of working .also I ask that I want to speek with the manager from the ward 28a they say that she will call me but nobody call and also I try to call several times and nobody answer for me is look like neglecting of the patient. also I ask for the translator for her and nobody was there. I really don't understand they say that she is at risk to do so many things and now I can see that is not care of her wait i don't know how much time again for the appointments is ridiculos and I can see that nobody care about her I just have the felling that they want to push and force her to do other procedures .now my question is if my mother she will have Sepsis or damage to the kidney how fault is if something happend with my mother. Just to let you know that I will save this message that I let you know about all this situation as a record if I will need to go further .thank you maybe you will have a look at all this situation.

  7. Review titled Absolutely impossible to contact

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 July 2023

Banging my head against a brick wall would be less painful than trying to contact urology. Our appointment in April was cancelled due to strike and we were advised we would receive another one in the post. I have been trying to contact them for months now as heard nothing about a new appointment….. until that is 2 weeks ago when we received a letter saying that we did not attend the appointment so have been referred back to GP. Absolutely furious as we never received a new appointment informing us or a telephone call. I have been trying to contact the numbers on the letters now for 2 weeks and nobody will answer the calls. What is going on with them. I have contacted my GP to inform him of the situation but it is unfair that he should have to make a new referral because of the incompetence of urology. And we wonder why the NHS are in trouble, although in fairness I cannot fault the NHS just urology! We had waited 9 months for this appointment and never attended because they didn’t tell us about it and we cannot contact them to speak to someone

Rated 1 star out of 5

Not fit for purpose! After being referred for an urgent 2 week appointment, 3 weeks ago, nothing! Urgent requests from the NHS's own bookings centre to the urology dept go unanswered, as do all phone calls. I feel like going to the LGH and seeing if there really is an Urology Department!

  9. Review titled Shambolic

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Disgusted - Posted on 31 March 2023

I've been waiting over six months for a consultant to make a phone call regarding an MRI scan result. It's been rescheduled multiple times and today, after confirming an 11am call for today, nothing. The number given just rings out and nobody answers. I have called the number >20 times, to no avail. It's like the department doesn't actually exist. For over six months, something has been growing inside me and they don't even have the courtesy to let me know what I'm dealing with. I'm utterly disgusted.

  10. Review titled Still waiting for results appointment

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Michael - Posted on 15 March 2023

After two plus weeks I'm still waiting for a rescheduled appointment to hear my prostate biopsy results. The general hospital appointments team can't do anything as they say they are waiting on Urology. The phone to Urology is never answered. If Leicester values client feedback you won't ask me to contact your Patient Liaison Team to make a complaint, but instead you'll ask Urology to respond to me with an appointment time. You have my details in the contact I filled out to leave this comment, so over to you...
