Review titled No Treatment After 8pm: Refusal of Treatment
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 28 July 2024
I recently suffered a severe burn that requires regular dressing changes by a nurse. Unfortunately, I have been struggling to secure an appointment with a district nurse, leaving me with the only option to use the Leigh Walk-In Centre. As we know, the centre is open from 7 am to 9 pm. On a recent visit, I arrived at the centre at 8:40 pm. Due to my disability, I depend on someone to take me there, and on that particular day, I could only make it at that time. My wound dressing was uncomfortable, bleeding, and causing significant irritation. I explained my situation to the staff at the desk, but I was refused treatment and told to come back the next day. Despite my explanation of the discomfort and the urgency of the situation, no temporary solution was offered. I felt neglected and deeply disappointed. According to the reception, the nurse refused to treat me because there was not enough time, and they do not treat anyone after 8 pm. This was particularly disheartening as I had been visiting every two days for my treatment and was previously advised to come in if I had any issues. Additionally, at the time of my visit, the centre was not busy at all—there were only two other people waiting. This made the refusal of treatment even more difficult to understand. While I have encountered some very nice and helpful nurses at the centre, this experience left me feeling let down. To prevent others from experiencing the same disappointment, I suggest placing a clear warning sign explaining that no treatment is provided after 8 pm. I hope this feedback can lead to improvements in the future so that no one else has to feel the same disappointment and neglect.

Review titled Unhappy
Rated 3 stars out of 5

Attended yesterday was triaged quickly which was good but my name was called twice as I didn’t hear first time the clinic was very busy and children crying which wasn’t an issue to me it was the triage professional that was the problem she didn’t seem impressed to have to shout name much louder again therefore I wasn’t at ease and I felt I was wasting time. Unfortunately for me I wouldn’t want to go again. How do you get treated these days I ask ? !!

Review titled Fantastic service despite long wait
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended with my daughter - was quickly seen through triage and warned the wait could be around 4 hours however we were out within 3 hours. All the staff were so kind and helpful but especially the GP who saw my daughter. He was so kind and patient with her as she was nervous. Thank you for the service you provide

Review titled Caring, quick and effective
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jenna - Posted on 10 April 2023
I visited at 7pm at night as my son had a swollen finger with a splinter imbedded. Every member that we dealt with was kind and caring. They were quiet at the time so we were in an out in around 30 minutes.

Review titled Unprofessional
Rated 1 star out of 5

Unprofessional staff, advertised as open till 9, I arrive at 8pm with an hour to spare which I didn’t see a problem, it’s a walk in centre and it closes at 9, I didn’t want to even go because I felt stupid but this place makes you feel stupid! Reception staff look at each other rolling their eyes as if to say why has this person come at this time, looking at their watches making you feel like you shouldn’t come for advice/reassurance and made a comment about going to a&e instead. (Why would I go to a&e when we have walk in centres? What are walk in centres for then?) I was triaged and then called by the ‘nurse’ who didn’t even examine me, put a pulse oximeter on my finger and handed me a piece of paper with the hub written on it with a number, telling me to call them as coming at that time is not a good time and I should arrive before 7 if I want to be seen (clearly wanted to get off home on time). No care or compassion, prisoners in jail get better care and service than I did this day. Didn’t even look at my problem just fobbed me off!
