I have to say that I am disappointed with how the mental health services have dealt with my wife's severe mental depression which is related to her cancer diagnosis in early 2024. It has only been in the last few months that the mental depression has got significantly worse where she is being passed between the crisis team and the adult mental health team. However, I do understand that if she does not accept their recommendations then it maybe the case that they cannot do much but there is no alternative plan in place other than sending her home where I have had to put up with the brunt of her anger and frustration. We have in the last couple of months have 5 ambulance call-outs, 3 police call-outs and 3 separate stays in hospital. Something needs to be done where there needs to be more cooperation and coming up with a solution between the mental health team, her GP and the oncology department.

I was Aston Ward mental health unit Lister hospital for a long time around 8 months. It's a shame some of the staff do amazing job and others not so good but I guess you could say that about anywhere. Unfortunately there were times my safety was put at risk. I would be happy to talk to any representative of Aston ward to help improve the quality of care patience point of views are essential to improving safety and mental health hospitals and shouldn't be ignored.
