Review titled Don’t bother

Unfortunately been involved with Mariner House for ~5 years, their MO has always been to minimise your illness and feelings and cut you off as soon as possible. Referred myself back to them in the latter half of 2022 due to an acute worsening of my symptoms and spent a majority of that time in limbo being told I was going to see a psychologist, eventually. After months of waiting I eventually had a short, limited number of sessions that essentially forced me to choose between working through my current struggles (particularly the loss of a pregnancy), or my long-term mental health difficulties that have affected the majority of my life, and will always continue to do so. I occasionally saw a psychiatrist who told me my illness wasn’t major or discriminated against, despite my continually stating how it affects my ability to work, maintain friendships and relationships, etc. I was told several times I would have a final session with the psychiatrist before being discharged, received an appointment letter, and then another letter to inform me it had been cancelled, but would be rescheduled. It was never mentioned again and the conversation pivoted to me being discharged in the next few weeks. I repeatedly said I did not feel ready to be discharged and felt no improvement in my mental health but this was completely ignored. I was referred to an external charity that has a track record of discrimination, assured there was no waiting list and that I would still receive support -it’s now been nearly six months of being on their waiting list and no sign of any further support. I have now sought private care for my mental health despite it being a large financial burden for me to undertake. I would never recommend friends or family to seek help through Mariner House except for mild depression or anxiety as they do not have the patience or time for anything that cannot be fixed quickly. Save yourself the waiting and struggling and see someone privately -you can get appointments in a matter of days and pick someone who’s best for you.
