  1. Review titled Poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

The therapist was a kind soul, but the overall experience was really bad because the service had a very long waiting due to the "queue". I was in my pregnancy and postpartum phases during the sessions and felt abandoned for a long time. There could only be 6 sessions(each one 30 minutes long that too taking up to 5-8 minutes for the questionnaire etc each time). Each session would be held like every 3 weeks or so, so you'd spend a long time unattended without any help. Basically a therapist doesn't really get enough time to sort any problems you have. I really think the sessions must be tailored as per the person's needs(more sessions with more frequency and time) and not made generic.

  2. Review titled Found it helpful

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Wanted to leave a good review amongst the bad ones. I'm a Uclan student and am currently seeking CBT for an eating disorder. I see my therapist around once every 2 weeks as they can only attend in-person session one day a week, which can be a little frustrating as if I can't make that day I have to wait another week at least, but in general I've benefitted from the service quite a lot. Once you give the sessions a few weeks to get the basic stuff out of the way, it's helpful and allows you to figure out what you might have missed, even just by being able to discuss things a bit. I was also grateful to work through another issue with my therapist that came up and was really bothering me, even though it wasn't related to my sessions, and gave me a chance to work through those feelings in a much healthier way. Although difficult emotionally, I do look forward to our sessions to feel validated and seen. Also, as it is a CBT course I'm taking I was surprised to be be offered up to 12 sessions as my previous counselling specifically through university was only about 6 maximum. I'm also hoping to be tested for ADHD through the sessions which is going to be really helpful for my uni experience. It does take some time to actually get onto the sessions, but if you need the help it's worth it. I would say it's more helpful for those significantly troubled but not in crisis due to waiting times, multiple assessments and gaps between sessions.

  3. Review titled Triggerred and abandoned

Rated 1 star out of 5

I was told I had PTSD from a student with a tutor listening on a laptop covered with paper. I was made to relive the image that kept popping into my mind by writing down when, where, how I was feeling, what was I doing. This was many times a day for a few weeks. I felt a lot worse, but I knew that CBT has worked in the past and trusted their guidance. Then I was told to go in,to have a humiliating conversation that could have been had over the phone...I was told that because I drink at night (my coping mechanism, I work,it doesn't affect my life and they knew this from the start)some nonesense about CBT not working when it worked 15 years ago when I was a full blown addict of a lot of things, including alcohol. I was told that I could work it out myself. I feel like I was used as a guinea pig for the student and abandoned. I felt hopeless on my way home. This could have pushed someone over the edge if they weren't in a good place. I am fine, but I suspect that there are only a few reviews because people are not allowed to say certain words on the NHS review site

  4. Review titled awfull

Waiting for more than 5 months for any treatment/councilling. 2. You can't be added to a waiting list until you have completed a phone call. repeating what your doctor already knows 3. Intensive support courses are way too short and Not backed up by proper after care. You are given paperwork to read, when what you actually need is a person to support you until you are Realistically capable and can manage on your own. 4. You are given the telephone numbers for the Crisis team - They won't help you until you are so bad it's too late. Samaritans - volunteers who aren't clinically trained or qualified to deal with any complex conditions. They're ok if you are lonely. 5. You are sent to charity groups which are ok if you are just lonely or a bit depressed. Again there is nowhere in Fylde for people who are suffering with Ptsd, depression, anxiety etc, Complex cases. These can't be fixed by a 6 day course or 12 weeks of interrupted councilling. There needs to be a sustained support network and some relevant groups. 6. None of the organisations i.e. Gp, psyciatrist, Mind Matters, Ats, Crisis Team, Social inclusion talk to each other. There needs to be proper collaborative case management meetings with all parties for a full and proper, sustained treatment plan. 7. Stop being made to feel like you are making things up, or continually told "have you not read the paperwork or watched the videos, or been back to your Gp etc" Not everyone has the learning, understanding or even the concentration needed to be able to do this, but can and are More than willing to Talk. Isn't that what all the media campaigns are telling men, children etc to do, even Walkers crisp adverts! 8. Gp Stop saying we don't have magic pills. Most people don't want to even be taking any kind of medication. Being put on tablets which can cause problems with your kidneys or liver and you are not under review to make sure they aren't harming you. 9. Stop saying " well you have family and/ or friends" Yes and they do offer support, but they are Not medically trained and it can be embarrassing, making you feel ashamed for feeling how you do and even those who love you feel helpless and lost as they don't know or understand what is going on in your head. 10. It's like being on a merry go round you can't get off. You just keep getting fobbed off and sent back round each group. i.e. GP sends you to the Start Team, they send you to Mind Matters, they send you to charity groups, then you go back to Gp etc. And inbetween all these you have to wait 5 months or more before you seen any of them. 11.You don't break your leg and get told you have to wait 5 months for a plaster cast, or a year for phyisio! 12. charity run groups dont work for every one niether does paper work after ats. It is like they read a script that they have say to everyone who goes through there system the same thing being said to everyone day in day out. really needs media attention about these teams
