Review titled No empathy
Rated 1 star out of 5

I would like to address an issue regarding my recent appointment, which was rescheduled just a day prior. On the weekend before Christmas, I faced significant delays due to heavy traffic in Bury, making parking difficult. When I arrived at the Centre, which I was unfamiliar with, I found it closed to the public, and accessing it was challenging. A visitor who came out helped me gain entry through the intercom. Inside, I followed the signs to the reception on the first floor, where a kind receptionist directed me to the third floor. However, there, I was informed by another receptionist that I could not attend my appointment because I was 10 minutes late. I noticed there were no other patients present in the waiting area. I explained that my appointment had been unexpectedly changed and that I was delayed due to traffic. I suggested that my blood sample could still have been taken within the allotted time if the nurse was available. I shared the urgency of my situation, as my local GP could not assist, and I needed prompt attention. The next available appointment wouldn’t be until the following Sunday, which might also get changed. I felt uncomfortable during my interaction with the receptionist, as she showed little empathy and did not seek assistance from her colleague. It’s important to recognize that patients may face serious health concerns, and her demeanor did not reflect an understanding of this. If she cannot adopt a more empathetic approach, I believe a reassessment of her role may be necessary. Additionally, if the Centre has a strict no-show policy with a 10-minute tolerance, I should be informed of this beforehand, especially during busy seasons. Clear communication is essential for a smooth experience.

I attended for a pre booked appt for blood tests my husband had an appt at the same time booked by our GP practice I was told I did not have an appointment but my husband did and that the nurse would not take my blood The receptionist was arrogant at best intimating I had come without an appointment I explained the nature of the blood tests to rule out ovarian and bowel ca markers She was rude and said she would spk to the nurse but it was unlikely I would get my bloods done She left the desk for five minutes to spk to the nurse-enough time for my bloods to be done My husband was called in at that point before his 1230 time slot I was then told I would not have the blood tests I needed My husband left after his test at 1232 Enough time left in his appt to do mine At this point I was in tears No empathy or flexibility was shown As a nurse in the NHS for 42 years I am disgusted with this experience I was made to feel that I was rude which I was categorically wasn’t that the double booking was my fault with lengthy dialogue from the receptionist to this end I now have to try to secure another appt when these are in short supply This delays any diagnostic I was treated rudely and with no compassion The receptionist was arrogant as I previously mentioned My husband also asked the nurse who was equally without compassion if she could fit me in she told him maybe I should get the bloods done where I work not knowing the nature of my role My bloods could have been taken as I am sure appts are for longer than 4 minutes of in the 5 minutes she was speaking to the receptionist My reflection is that this was perhaps a closing of ranks to put me in my place I am left upset and without the bloods taken in what is already a really anxiety provoking situation I am in with my health

huge confusion no one checking patients in, and numerous patients being turned away told they had missed their appointments when they had been sat in the waiting room for over an hour waiting to be called! ridiculous system no wonder the NHS is in trouble.

Review titled Needs ignored

2 hours trying to get through on phone. Nothing. Despite 111 dr saying. Needed urgent dr assessment for four week symptoms chest cough throat breathing fevers now diarrhoea worsening. Receptionist didn’t even take my name. Seemed unconcerned a sweaty faint man was wheezing his way through list of reasons 111 Dr sent me here. Couldn’t offer appointment or anything other than keep coming down at 8 am! When told I’m too ill. I shouldn’t be here now she shrugged. So until this is bad enough for an ambulance I am stranded with worsening breathing and dehydration but at least the daily 8 am regikk ok are will get there next fix
