I was recommended to Newmedica in Exeter by 5 friends from our local Church who had all had wonderful treatment there so when I was advised by my optician that I needed a cataract removed I advised the Referral Service that this was my chosen place for treatment. I was amazed that I was given an appointment for my assessment 2 weeks later. All of the Team could not have been more helpful & I was really impressed with the care & kind attention I was given at my appointment. The process & options available were explained clearly to me & after the assessment I was given a date 2 weeks ahead for the surgery so it was only 4 weeks in all from being referred to having the cataract removed. On the day, I received wonderful treatment & the surgery only took 15 minutes & was completely painless with absolutely no discomfort. I arrived at the Centre at 9.20 & left at 10.20. The instructions I was given were completely clear with emergency contact numbers if needed. Since the surgery I have had no problems at all & my vision in my 'new' eye is wonderful I can see things really clearly & so much brighter. Thank you so much to all the Team at Newmedica in Exeter you are the best!

I went in July to have my second cataract operation and was again impressed by the kindness and efficiency of the team and by how much less scary than expected the actual operation was. I was also amazed by how quickly the two procedures were scheduled from my referral in February. I was thoroughly prepared for the first procedure by three members of staff, including the surgeon, and I was much reassured by their words and demeanour. It isn’t the most comfortable of procedures but there is no pain and it is very quickly over and I was absolutely fine very speedily after a cup of tea and a rub down of my hair with a nice dry towel! The procedure did involve some water which trickled over my ear and hair. The recovery was very quick and I couldn’t believe the change in my sight on both occasions - I was stunned at the colours and what I can now see having been very myopic and worn glasses and contacts for most of my life - what a gift! I would like to thank the surgical team and the receptionists at Newmedica for all they did - as their care before, during and after surgery is of a very high standard.

I had undergone cataract surgery at Newmedica Exeter in 2021 and the high standards I encountered then were just the same on my recent visit, to correct a similar problem in my other eye. Every member of the staff, from receptionist to consultant is welcoming and reassuringly clear in discussing appointments, preparation and procedures. On this occasion I was called in to take advantage of a cancelled appointment, at 24 hours notice. This efficiency and flexibility only adds to my admiration of this excellent facility. I received a follow-up telephone call this morning, asking after my condition, comfort and any side-effects (none). Routine, perhaps, but nonetheless reassuring.

From first being referred by my optician to the ultimate surgery the clinic were excellent. I was kept fully advised of time scale and procedure and at no time forced to have the procedure. Following the pre-op the procedure was carried out within a couple of weeks and was faultless from Staff to the consultant ophthalmology. Fortunately not needing any follow up I felt assured it was there for the asking. Many thanks

Clinical team extremely professional. Kept me informed about my cataract surgery through out. The procedure was pain free. Afterwards I was able to go home. The next morning I received a phone call to ask how I was feeling. Couldn't have asked for more. I can't thank the team there enough.

Arrived at 8am and had a wait before things got going. But surgery was really calming induced by caring staff, everything explained and all questions answered. Completely pain free. Surgeon reassured me during procedure which was only 10 / 15 minutes. On my way home within half an hour of surgery starting. Thank you Newmedica Exeter

Very professional team. I felt very nervous about my cateract surgery. Staff explained everything to me to put me at ease. The Surgeon and medical staff were very friendly and reasurring during the procedure. Given a coffee after my surgery. I was looked after very well throughout my stay. I even got a telephone call the next day to check how I was getting on. Highly recommended. Many thanks Rachael

Looked after well from the time I entered the centre. Everything was explained fully so that once in the operating theatre I knew what to expect. Great care was taken and I was looked after well afterwards until I could go home. Even escorted out to my car to ensure I didn't trip on kerbs etc
