Review titled Staff were not helpful
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I asked a member of the staff for a pillow and I was asked: “What is it for?” I said:”to rest my head “ and she answered: “no, we don’t have one!” How can a health assistant at a hospital not give you a pillow? This is so mean! Was it my reply that lead her to refused to give me a pillow? This is appalling!

Review titled Uncontactable on day of appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Paul Addison - Posted on 07 January 2023
So given ultrasound appointments for a Saturday and tried every which way to contact on the day of the appointment with urgent questions but only able to contact anyone at a working hospital mon to fri is appalling and to not be able to address issues or even if needed explain you would not be able to attend so they could maybe contact someone else and bring forward their appointment so time slots are not wasted etc i find the constant ouh inability to contact people or engage with staff their to be actually quite dangerous to patient care and something which seriously needs addressing a hospital which is offering appointments should be contactable always during those appointment days and hours if not 24/7 as hospital’s emergencies do not wait, patients anxiety does not stop if they can not get their concerns addressed just overall a poor way to manage patients and healthcare and we need to step it up and be more like the usa and other countries who are always able to pick up a phone and engage with patients

Review titled The amazing treatment I received
by gemini58 - Posted on 20 January 2023
I had an Outpatients' appointment at the HAPI clinic in the West Wing of the JR Hospital yesterday for an assessment of a granuloma on a finger that I had been suffering from for six weeks. I had called the clinic the day before, requesting an urgent appointment because of the worsening condition of the injury and because of imminent travel. Within an hour of my contacting the clinic, I received a call-back and had an appointment booked. I was super-impressed by the speed of reaction and the positive outcome. As I waited in one of the assessment bays, I was able to listen to and (to some degree) watch how the staff interacted with each other and with their patients. What struck me was their calm efficiency, their courtesy and the fact that they so obviously cared about what they were doing and about the difference they were making. In due course, I was assessed and told that I would be added to the Minor Ops Plastic Surgery (MOPS) list for later in the day, with the proviso that I might be bumped off the list if more urgent cases presented themselves in the meantime. On that basis, I was told to return around 2:30 p.m. when the position would be clearer. When I returned, I was told that although I wouldn't be operated on at the HAPI MOPS clinic, there was a cancellation at the MOPS clinic at the Nuffiield Orthopaedic Hospital at 3:00 p.m. When I arrived at the Nuffield Outpatients' Reception, they were expecting me and within a couple of minutes I found myself in the MOPS clinic being prepared for surgery. All of the staff members I met were just as courteous, caring and professional as their colleagues at the JR had been. Before 4:00 p.m. the operation was over and I was being discharged. During the pandemic, I worked as a volunteer vaccinator, administering around 2,000 Covid and flu vaccinations in various clinics across Oxfordshire and Berkshire, so I am aware of some of the shortcomings of the NHS (mainly around staff shortages and outdated systems in my experience), but I have only admiration for the NHS staff members that I worked alongside and those I was treated by yesterday. So, thank you everyone.
