  1. Review titled Wonderful, efficient and reassuring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sian - Posted on 05 July 2024

I came in with what the consultant the next day described as quite a nasty fracture to my ankle. I arrived by car and straight away the porters were out to assist with a wheelchair, shortly followed by two nurses who very carefully got me back out of the car while supporting my ankle, reassuring me the whole way and quickly supplying pain relief. They quickly established by xray that my foot needed realigning, and while this was an entirely and unavoidably unpleasant experience, the nurses not only did everything they could to ease the experience, they also did such a good job of realigning my foot that I (hopefully) avoided surgery! Absolute credit to their profession, and to the NHS.

  2. Review titled Day surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Excellent service by all in surgical day care. The care given and shown to me was outstanding. I was extremely nervous of being put to sleep but with reassurance from all staff, my procedure was of great standards. Thank you so much to each and every member of staff that took great care of me. I would highly recommend any procedures to be under taken at this hospital. A big thank you to the NHS for your time and care.

  3. Review titled Great doctor

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My daughter had appointment in out of hours this evening at 8:50pm and wanted to give feedback on the lovely male doctor. If i have had to bring her in the past its usually they are completely in drill mode but this doctor was one of a kind he kept making silly jokes to make her smile when she feels so unwell made her very comfortable what a bright ray of sunshine he was if they were all like him princess of wales hospital would possibly get their ratings up again… so to the doctor this evening thank you so much and you are an absolute credit to that hospital and they are lucky to have you

  4. Review titled Excellent care.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

A&E plus Trauma Unit 2/3/24. Dislocated shoulder and Fracture after falling onto concrete surface. Less than 5 minute wait to be seen; kind and caring Nursing staff and Radiologists. The Doctor in charge was excellent, particularly considering he was rushed off his feet. Resus staff also excellent in an extremely busy environment. I would like to express my gratitude for my treatment which is ongoing. Thank you all.

  5. Review titled Great Medical Staff but Poorly Managed A&E

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 March 2024

Went to A&E for my grandfather last night per the advice of 111. Arrived as quickly as possible (had to wait for a taxi) and was rapidly triaged and given an MRI. From arrival to completing triage and MRI was less than 45 minutes. The triage nurse, radiologist and other medical staff were lovely throughout and calmed us in this tricky time. We were returned to the waiting area and advised to expect a roughly 60 minute wait until a doctor could review the results. However, it was a much longer wait. 4 hours later, another nurse came back to take vitals and advised that we had not yet been assigned to a doctor and the scans would be checked soon. 5 hours after the scan was completed, we were seen by an excellent and thorough junior doctor, but had to wait longer to be seen by their senior for confirmation. This took another 30 minutes, and then another 45 minutes until the senior doctor could sort medication and a prescription to leave with. The doctors took so long because there were so few of them, despite being a bank holiday weekend evening. In total, we were there for over 7 hours. Most of it was waiting for doctors. Throughout this time, we sat in an uncomfortable waiting room. The room was cold, poorly maintained and unclean. The bathrooms remained dirty and without toilet roll for the entire time. The automatic doors creaked horribly. Chairs wobbled. The coffee machine was not stocked with cups/etc. The one vending machine was broken. It was the middle of the night and there was no other opportunity for food or drinks, which we needed. People asked the receptionists for water repeatedly, who did get small jugs but they ran out in minutes and always seemed frustrated and put out by the request. The waiting room made the long wait painful, and the long wait was exacerbated by the lack of staff. The medical staff we spoke to were wonderful, but there were nowhere near enough staff. A very frustrating experience.

  6. Review titled Attitude of doctor

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Lesley Jones - Posted on 16 February 2024

Our GP told us to go if we were worried about blood loss, we went and were made to feel like we were wasting their time and told they couldn't help people trying to expedite the system and they only deal with life threatening situations. He was very patronising and condescending.

  7. Review titled Thorough, caring and professional practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kenneth Tyzack - Posted on 23 November 2023

I was admitted for an oral wasp sting, (possibly anaphylaxis),and cannot speak highly enough of the attention and care which I received. This was manifested by reception staff, emergency and upon the ward itself. The nursing staff in the ‘holding area’ and those later upon the ward, were assiduous, attentive and focused upon their professional duties. The doctor and his trainee were explicit regarding the procedures, that I was undergoing and I was made to feel confident, in their judgment and expertise. The cleanliness and orderly atmosphere and the positive and friendly manner of the ancillary staff also contributed to my confidence in this institution. Many thanks to the wonderful team at the Princess Dianna Hospital Bridgend. God bless you and our wonderful NHS!

My son has visited the day surgery unit for the second time today. The staff have been amazing with him once again. The HCA in particular is absolutely fantastic at her job and really put him at ease! The nurses on the unit are also worth their weight in gold. Thank you all for being so supportive and caring! x

On attending today the 6th july had the unfortunate experience of hearing a nurse discuss in the hallway how she needed extra help with my son as he is a fat chubby child really not impressed by this i should never have to overhear someone calling a 10 year old names by a grown lady

  10. Review titled Amazing care and experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Brian Vincent - Posted on 07 May 2023

Thank you to a & e and all the staff and Bridgend hospital. From the desk at a & e to the x ray department, ultra sound scan team and fracture clinic. I came in with a damaged elbow which took the sails out of me and shook me up. I must’ve spoken to and dealt with by at least 20 members of staff over a period of 3 days and they all treated me with genuine care and made me feel like a person and not a number. So thank you. I hope I don’t see any of you again except in Tesco or Tenby. With care like that, it’s good to know that my children and their children are in safe hands. You’re all amazing. Thank you very much.
