Came in to try to see a doc as in pain and weeing what looked like blood but told no pre booked appointments Avail until August or phone back after 8 am so I explained to receptionist the problem in front of a queue of patients to which she said wee in this bottle I’ll get nurse to dip it and call you also gave me another sample bottle to bring sample to surgery in the morning, we’ll later the nurse rang said she didn’t dip the sample just do the sample in the morning and prescribed me antibiotics to collect from pharmacy say it’s probably just an infection, we’ll later that evening I was in so much pain I went to A&e after spending 13 hours in agony up there I was eventually admitted for urgent surgery to remove an obstruction read my records to see diagnosis, my concern is that how can a nurse pretty much guess a diagnosis over the phone ? If she wasn’t sure it should have been suggested I go straight to A&e as it happens the outcome wasn’t life threatening and is now under control but it could have more serious.
