Review titled Improvement Needed
Rated 3 stars out of 5

If you'd like to experience an environment where both breakfast television is playing along with 80's radio at the same time, then come along. What was wrong with quiet? If you'd like having to stand up three times with four others every time a first name is called, then come along. What was wrong with calling out a person's title and surname?

We would like to apologise for the mixed sounds in our waiting room. We should only have the television playing with the radio in the clinic corridors. The background sound in these areas does help to maintain a degree of confidentiality for our patients, especially when talking at reception, which is why the television is playing. Staff have been reminded to ensure that both the television and radio are not both on at the same time. Within sexual health we have always considered the best way to call patients to enable them to know the call is for them but to maintain a degree of confidentiality. Therefore, we do use first names only. We have discussed with the team ensuring they deal appropriately and sensitively when calling patients through by their first name, especially if there is more than one person with the same first name.

Review titled Can't get in contact

I had 3 missed calls tried to call them back and apparently the clinic was closed at 4pm, when the clinic is open until 5pm. How are you meant to return calls and contact when the phone lines close before they should.

Dear service user I would like to apologise for the difficulties you have had with accessing our service. Our phone lines are open 8.30-4pm. This allows the receptionist managing the evening clinics can book users quickly into the clinic without having to also manage the phone line. Our telephone line is for all service users across Staffordshire, Stoke, Shropshire and Telford. If you would like to email me your name, date of birth and a contact telephone number via SexualHealthComms@mpft.nhs.uk, I will ensure a member of my team rings you to arrange an appointment. Kind regards, Service Manager
