    Had my first cataract surgery done. On the first day a little discomfort with eye weeping but from the second day a change of life. How wonderful to see clearly again.Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Spa Medica for making my visit pleasant and for the way your explanations were exact. Regards John

    From the first telephone call from the SpaMedica team to the operation being carried out, friendly, very professional, with every procedure in the assessment being fully explained to me before being carried out. On the day of the operation, from the receptionist to the surgeon everybody behaving in a friendly and very professional manner.

    friendly staff, and waited only one week for the procedure. Free coffee and biscuits are available, and so is free parking.

    I have had both cataracts removed at Spa Medica. All the staff were polite, helpful and knowledgeable. The facilities are clean, modern and welcoming.

    Went there for cataract surgery. Initial assessment was reassuring. On day of surgery there was a bit of a wait, but once I was taken into the preparation area the various stages were carried out with a minimum of fuss and all was explained to me at each stage and at no time was I in any discomfort. The actual operation was painless and seemed to be very quickly over. All in all I can say that if you go here for cataract surgery you need have nothing to be concerned over. I would point out that it only took 2 days to see the benefits of having it done.

    I have now had both my cataracts removed at Bromley, the second one just two weeks ago. I had no change in my vision after the first operation, apart from brighter colours, very different from what I had been led to expect, and worrying. I believe this was due to my being astigmatic, but I would have appreciated a warning that this might happen. On your optometrist's advice, I had had one lens knocked out of an old pair of glasses, to tide me over between operations, but they were useless, and after trying to use them for a couple of days I gave up. It was as if my brain could not cope with the difference between the two eyes and settled for the version of reality to which it was accustomed. After the second operation, as soon as the new lens lost its cloudiness, (about 48 hours), I did become aware that my vision was much much clearer, and I'm looking forward to getting my new glasses next month. On the day of my first operation, Nov 8 2022, I was the last patient, and the whole process took more than three hours, with a great deal of waiting involved. I was surprised to find that there was no wifi available for patients. There was no phone signal in the clinical area. I had not brought a book, assuming there would be wifi, as in all NHS premises I have been in recently. Before the first op, I really needed something to distract me! Could there not be wifi installed for patients? In the second week after both ops, but especially the first, I had some quite substantial white discharge from my eye, not mentioned in the literature. I was grateful to the people on your central help line for the speed of their return of call (within 2 hours) and the quality of the support provided, with reassurance that it was my probably just my eye getting rid of some detritus from the operation. I rate the helpline as a winning feature of your system.

    Op due at 8.50 but had it at 10.45. was told if 10 mins late for appointment wouldn't be seen !!if of nervous disposition ask for sedation ie a valium.i said no but wished I had .op takes about 6 mins uncomfortable but not painful. Take very dark sunglasses to wear after, felt like I had a torch shining in my eye on way home but it was a very sunny day. staff friendly.take a book or paper to read whilst waiting.you can leave glasses in operating room .felt tired for a couple of days avoid shops with bright lights
