I had my first op 2.04.2024 and my second one 2.05.2024. On both occasions my experience was first class in every repect. The staff from the gentleman on reception to the theatre staff were excellent in every way possible. They were friendly and helpful and informative throughout each stage of the proceedure, helping to make you feel relaxed about a proceedure that must be daunting to most patients. The practice was kept in a lovely condition in all ways. I can`t really add much more unless specific questions wer posed to me which I feel confident would all get a positive response from myself.

From the initial appointment to the surgery you feel like you really are looked after by staff that care. The speed and efficiency of SpaMedica is a at a very high standard and the rest of the NHS should take note of the way that they operate as an example of the way things should be.

I had my first cataract removed in Feb this year and four weeks later was referred for the other one. Once assessed I was given an appointment for a week later for surgery. Waiting time between referral, assessment and surgery are very good. SpaMedica is an excellent facility, very modern and clean. At the assessment appointment the nurses gave a full explanation of the procedure they would be carrying out and the opportunity to ask questions. The Optometrist gave me a full explanation of what the surgery entailed and answered any questions I had. The staff from the greeter, receptionists, nurses and Optometrist were very friendly but professional and made me feel relaxed and fully informed. On the day of surgery I was obviously anxious but the staff did all they could to calm my nerves. The nurse prepping me for theatre gave me a full explanation of what to expect and of the different eye drops she instilled in my eye, The Surgeon came and introduced himself and gave me the opportunity to ask questions. The surgery was pain free and I felt relaxed throughout. Once out of theatre a nurse explained the post op care and an explanation of the eye drops I was given. I can highly recommend SpaMedica to anyone needing surgery for cataracts. Excellent friendly professional staff giving excellent care in a modern clean and pleasant facility.

I have just had my 4th operation on my left eye. The difference in my vision after having laser treatment to remove part of the capsule around my new lens is amazing. Totally painless and the staff could not have been nicer or more professional. If you are worried about having laser treatment on your eyes then please don't worry. It is really simple and the difference in my case was immediate. Thank you for giving me back such good vision back in my left eye.

Attended for pre assessment appointment for Cataract Operation. All staff cheerful and attentive to my needs. Explanations given as to results and planned operation details, so I felt well informed and prepared. On day of operation made welcome and settled by staff and explanations of procedures, timings etc given by nursing staff and operation details given by Surgeon made for a relaxed self. Following cataract removal time given to recover and following this period checks made and information and medication supplied and information regarding contact details, should any post surgery problems occur, given. Throughout the whole experience I felt supported by medical and nursing staff which made for me a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Thank you to all staff concerned in this process.

I was referred by my usual optician and had my surgery 30 days later. The process for the operation was calm and efficient, and the actual surgery took around 5 mins. I was bowled over by the experience which was slick and professional. The discharge nurse let the side down somewhat by being rather patronising and patting my leg when I double checked what she was telling me. and the information she gave me about exercise after the operation wasn't entirely accurate. The telephone helpline, however, was excellent when I rang them to clarify things. Overall a very positive experience. Things weren't so good when trying to arrange a follow up. To do that you have to ring a call centre. After a good few times of being told my call was important I gave up and dropped into my referring optician, who unfortunately couldn't arrange an appointment for me, so I had to ring the call centre again, and it took 16 minutes to get through. They didn't arrange the appointment but gave me the number of my nearest provider. This optician was lovely when I rang, but advised me to double check with my regular optician, particularly as they had done the follow up on my first eye. I rang them again but apparently they don't have the contract to do it, and I now have an appointment with the other optician. I am mystified as to why I have to wait 16 minutes in a queue when the agent then can't make the appointment. Why couldn't I simply have been given the number of my nearest provider on discharge? It is a shame that this cumbersome process for getting an appointment for a check up somewhat spoils the otherwise excellent experience I had at SpaMedica Doncaster.

The staff where happy natured and very caring and the waiting time for the treatment was pleasantly short. The leaflet spoke about floaties and blurriness after the treatment but I only experienced rich colour and renewed sharpness of vision and no floaties so am well pleased, I am looking at things with fresh clarity. Thanks to everyone and technology. Thank you SpaMedica.
