I write on behalf of my 95 year old Mum who has had two unsatisfactory experiences at Spa Medica Exeter. Both scenarios, a frightening experience for her in the Operating Theatre. The first experience (Jan 2024) there was no one to reassure her or hold her hand through the experience, it felt 'conveyer belt' & given her age & medical issues, primarily heart, all known to the team through medical details supplied through pre-op assessment & paperwork this was disappointing. She also suffered a fall prior to the Op at this appointment which was totally avoidable & meant the procedure had to be delayed by a week. For the second eye, again I was with her right up when she had to go into Theatre. I asked for a nurse to hold her hand throughout, happened & the nurse was very kind. However, the surgeon did not explain, just spoke to the theatre staff and did not address my Mum. On both occasions, Mum exited the operating Theatre in tears.

Spa Medica were amazing! Every staff member was kind, polite and friendly. Lovely people. They all explained each step of my treatment and reassured me on the day of surgery. A quick turnaround from pre op to surgery meant that anxiety was kept to a minimum. I can’t thank them enough and would definitely recommend (the biscuit selection was also top notch!)

I ve had both eyes done now. Although they had some difficulties with my deep set eyes, every care was taken. I am very satisfied with the results. Clinic is very well run with great communication, very efficient. Staff very professional and caring. Thank you.

I was very nervous about having my cataract procedure done. But from the second I walked in the door for my assessment last Tuesday I found all the staff to be caring and considerate. They all acted in a professional manner and explained the procedure in a way that reassured me. I got an appointment for the op on the following Saturday! Very prompt! So yesterday was my op day. Again all the staff put me at ease the second I walked in the door and I felt confident all would go well. It did! I can honestly say I didn't feel a thing! Yes it was a strange sensation but not even that unpleasant! After the op I was surprised that I could see almost immediately. The nurse then explained exactly how to look after my eye and supplied everything needed. It's the day after now and I can see very well. Colour and sharpness has improved a lot and I'm sure it will improve further. It's like having a thick yellow net curtain removed from in front of your eye. Thanks to all involved yesterday, you are all true professionals, at all times I felt in safe hands.

I can honestly say that my 2 experiences with SpaMedica have been more than acceptable. The care and professionalism is beyond doubt. I had to take advantage of the transport and must commend the skill and care given by the driver on each occasion. I must thank all clinic staff and the driver for their dedication.

I was very nervous at first but everyone was so very helpful they go out of there way to calm and help you ,I carnt believe how easy it was no pain at all . My eyesight is so much better i carnt wait to have the other done.

Incredible care by all the staff, I was put at ease straight away. They showed me compassion, and kindness. Fantastic place where all staff give you a warm welcome and jovial conversation. I would have andwill continue to praise the whole team and recommend Spamedica to anyone who is considering any form of eye surgery. thank you everyone at exeter

From the pre op right through to the day of surgery everyone was welcoming and I was kept fully informed step by step. I was very impressed with the set up and all the staff.
