I had Cataract Surgery on my right eye at Kendal A good experience with great outcome. The entire staff went above and beyond to smooth over any concerns i may have had

Very positive experience at SpaMedical Kendal lovely staff excellent consultant runs like clockwork. I was nervous about having my cataract op, unnecessary was painless and comfortable.

I went with mum to the clinic and the lady on reception was fine but when we went to the next stage I found the nurses in the assessment rooms were very bossy to mum and was nearly shouting at her. We then sat in the corridor to wait for the next assessment and another nurse muttering, effing and jeffing with unsuitable language. Followed by another patronising lady in very big high heel asking if all the patients were behaving themselves. I think that was really out of order and these are real people not just anyone. Please have a bit of respect for the patients and smile wouldnt go a miss.

From the time you enter building you are greeted with warmth and friendly smiles. Nothing is too much trouble to make you feel wanted and calming spirit. I suffer from claustrophobia,so don't like my face covered, No problem was reassured and helped to relax, this made the experience very easy and comfortable.

This was the second cataract operation at Kendal and I have no complaints at all. The staff were polite and the operations were completed in quick time with no problems .

As with other parts of the National Health Service, the staff are from mixed backgrounds united in patient care. My personable female optometrist was Muslim; she was wearing a hijab. I cannot definitely place the others from their physical appearance, maybe Near East and Far East among the obviously British and maybe all are British - who knows. Staff engaged you in conversation, were attentive, friendly and put me at my ease. There were lots of patients. Staff were very busy but any pressure was not transmitted to me. There was plentiful coffee from the machine said to require a degree in nuclear physics to operate; I have one. The process was thorough, steps before surgery, the surgery itself and the aftercare, how to look after yourself at home. I must have been asked four or five times for my name, date of birth and address to make sure I was the right patient. My forehead was marked indelibly with a black downward arrow above the eye to be operated on. In the theatre anteroom the surgeon and I engaged on Lk’s (you are not allowed names in this review) book - the Physics of Climate Change. Anaesthetising eye drops took their effect and I felt no pain. The surgeon told me about progress as the operation proceeded; it took about 5-10 minutes, I think. His concentration was absolute throughout. After lying flat, when the procedure was over I was helped to my feet and found I could walk unaided with my eye patch in place. A briefing about what to do and what happens next followed. After a brief rest in the waiting room I was driven home through the Lakes by my wife. My vision gets better day by day after an almost immediate step change. I am hugely grateful to the staff at SpaMedical Kendal. Many thanks.

On arrival you are met by a polite security person who takes a few details and then shows you where to go and offers you some refreshments. after a short wait you are taken down the corridor to another waiting area to see a nurse, before going into the waiting area for the procedure. the place was nice and clean. The surgeon came and said a few words to reassure you before going into operating room. I have had both my eyes done, and it has made a big difference to my sight.

I am so impressed with the care and treatment from start to finish The guy(sorry can't remember his name!) Who greeted us in entrance checked ok gave us tea, coffee, really pleasant and made ne reassured. The st All tbe staff in fact all were reassuring, supportive pleasant. I lived in the south and have been telling them , praising the treatment received from SpaMedica Thank you all!
