Review titled Amazing admin. Horrible operation

The admin before and after the op was super smooth. I have nothing but praise for the way the well-practised team managed me through the preparation and aftercare. But, the main reason for going was the cataract operation itself. And that was horrible. It took the operation team an age to register that I was experiencing extreme discomfort. They repeatedly told me to keep still and actually pushed me down onto the operating table to stop me from moving. I was moving due to the pain in my eye during the process. Eventually, they applied more eye drops to numb the pain, after which the procedure went well. My eye remained very painful the day after the operation, but by the 2nd day the pain went and I could see extremely clearly. But I am so traumatised by the process that I don't know whether I will be able to go through the process again to have the cataract removed from my other eye.

I can’t fault a single thing I was very nervous full of anxiety coming up to the surgery day including sitting in the waiting room But the 2 surgeon guys was so nice and reassuring The procedure itself went surprisingly faster than I anticipated The receptionist was so polite and lovely when seeing to me Thank you

Easy access with underground parking. Clean and well laid out hospital. Very welcoming and helpful staff. The surgical process was an exceptional experience with everything explained before and afterwards. Discharged to home after three hours.

I've now had cataract ops on both eyes, the first in September and the second in December. The admin side of things (booking, information provided etc) was first class and all the admin and clinical staff were friendly and helpful. I was anxious before the first op and had to be given a diazepam to get my blood pressure down. This was all handled sympathetically. For the second op, I was seen by the nurse on time, but then had to sit around for over 2 hours before being called in for the procedure. At no point did anyone explain to me and others waiting that there would be a delay. I appreciate that delays happen, but I would like to have been kept informed about the delay and how long it was likely to be Overall the whole experience was great and I would not hesitate to recommend SpaMedica

This was my 2nd cataract op, at SpaMedica Manchester. 1st,6 years ago ! Staff , very friendly and helpful. Surgeon, excellent ! Operating equipment far superior to 6 years ago . Whole process worked like clockwork. Would recommend without reservation, and so quick ,after being referred. Only had the op, yesterday , no pain or discomfort at all . Very pleased !

Services were tremendous, all staff so courteous! First class in every way. Thank you all. The surgeon took the time to chat pre operation and settle any nerves too. All the post op and pre op nurses were fantastic

Attended twice this year for cataract surgery. Outstanding service from start to finish on both occasions. Everyone extremely friendly and helpful. Efficient and speedy, I’m very grateful.

From arrival to departure everyone we encountered was pleasant and friendly. My surgeon explained everything clearly and he bent over backwards to get my lens measurement right. The procedure was over and done in 15 minutes and after issuing me with eye drops I was free to go, would recommended to anyone.

I was referred to Spa medica one week ago. I arrived for my pre op assessment and was so warmly greeted in the reception. I was processed through into a waiting room and then seen by 3 professionals for the different eye tests and scans, this whole process took 2.5 hours. The staff throughout was so friendly, calming and polite. My cateract removal was scheduled for last Friday which was another pleasant experience. Very calming, friendly staff and atmosphere. The surgeon meets you personally and explains the procedure. I was in theatre 20mins, came out and sat for a short while. The reception booked me a taxi home, 2.5 hours in total. This facility is absolutely fantastic. Thanks to all the staff from the cleaners upto the Surgeon. We are so gifted to have such talented people. Thank you.
