I found all the staff I met to be very friendly and welcoming making my experience a positive one. The surgery went really well as did the aftercare.

Just had my second op, a little apprehensive prior my first op, but both operations were brilliant, no discomfort at all, either during the op or afterwards. I am very happpy and thank you very much indeed.

Have just returned from spa medica Preston with my 86 year old father after his surgeon refused to operate due to him being deaf!! He was referred to spa medical via his optician as he has cataracts in both eyes and is almost completely blind. We attended a pre op appointment at Bolton where his eyes were examined, his right eye completely obscured and left barely any better. He was passed as approved for surgery. An appointment was made for 13/11/2022 which we attended. Whilst in the car park my father tripped over a kerb and fell cutting his hands and knee. The nurses at spa medical were great, cleaning him up and applying a dressing to his knee and plasters to his hand. Sadly the fact he now had open wounds the surgeon said that the risk of infection meant they couldn't operate which is understandable. An appointment was then maybe for this morning the 27th November. We arrived this morning for his appointment, waited half an hour and then he was called by one of the nurses to pre op where what would be happening was discussed,that he would have to remove his hearing aid and his right eye marked and then dialated and was taken through to the patient's ward. Now this has all happened over three appointments with nurses, optometrist's etc all havening to talk to him yet not once has his hearing been flagged up by anyone even when he himself repeatedly said when discussed he was completely deaf without his hearing aid. Half an hour or more passes and I find him sat in the corridor across from the theatre and examination rooms with no idea why he was sat there. A theatre nurse then comes to us and tells us that the surgeon has refused to operate because he is deaf, because he had to remove his hearing aid. Three separate times my father has been examined, three separate times he has mentioned his hearing and not once did anyone from spa medica flag this up. A complete and utter waste of time, money, two trips to the doctors for sedatives as he was terrified of the procedure. Now he has to be referred back to the NHS as they say he has to have a general anaesthetic which isn't going to happen due to his c.o.p.d. So it seems highly likely he will in time he will completely lose his sight all thanks to him being deaf. Thanks spa medica, thanks for an utter waste of time.

Nothing was any trouble. Every single step of the process explained perfectly, by exceptional staff who were polite, professionals at every single encounter. If I had more eyes? I would not hesitate to go back. This is the best experience ever. A very openly public thank you to all concerned.

Pre-op I was terrified, my imagination ran riot. imagining everything possible that could {and probably would} go wrong. The surgeon and his team had patience, understanding, and were reassuring without being condescending. I can't praise them enough. I'm looking forward to having my right eye sorted. Please accept my grateful thanks.

I had my cataract operation on 25th November '22. It was the second at Spamedica Preston and, as with the first, I was treated with perfect courtesy, kindness and professionalism. The resulting improvement was great. One small issue was that I felt at risk of running out of the post operation drops and the process of getting through to someone who could provide them was laborious. Using the Spamedica centralised 'phone system is laborious at best unless you can class yourself as being in 'urgent need'.
