All the Departments were ok except Surgery itself. Surgeon introduced himself and I was led to theatre, asked to lie on a couch, nothing was explained as to how the op would be done . I lied down something was put over my face and I felt water coming down the side of my face. Surgery was done quickly. No one in the theatre reassured me. All I could hear was staff talking amongst themselves about their shifts and work stuff. It almost felt like I was object and they dealt with whatever they had to do. It was like pit stop on a racing track. The whole experience left me traumatised. I have decided not to come back to Spa Medica for my other eye surgery.

Thank you My first Cataract surgery procedure has been great success surgeon took care and made me comfortable. For which I am very grateful. staff very efficient, polite and friendly. From reception to surgeon. Very neat and clean place. Watford I would highly recommend and give 5 stars.

I was surprised at the welcome I received walking through the door. It made me feel relaxed. Procedure went smoothly and there was always someone checking on you. It was so quick to receive an appointment. Both eyes completed in 10 weeks.

My treatment at SpaMedica Watford was a truly awful experience. I was not in any way prepared in advance for what the procedure involved. During the operation I was in such severe pain that it felt almost unbearable. I was not shown proper care during this treatment but instead the staff carried out their tasks in a fashion that felt brutal and uncaring. I do not understand why there was such a lack of care shown. I was left in a state of shock. As I try to process what has happened, I worry that I may in fact been traumatised by the overall experience. This is my experience. On climbing onto the operating table, a male nurse placed a mask over my face. The surgeon stepped forward and standing by side, he proceeded to clamp my upper right eye lid tightly against the bone of my eye socket and wedged it there, causing me excruciating pain and discomfort, to the point that it became unbearable. Then it felt as if a tap had been turned on, as water flooded my eye continuously until his work was completed. It felt as if a hose pipe had been attached to a tap and the tap turned full on. At no point was any of this explained to me. Once the surgeon had finished, the nurse who had put the mask on my face stepped forward and quite simply, literally ripped the mask off my face. It was an horrendous experience. I felt violated. I quite expected to see the skin on the right side of my face removed where the mask had been placed and then pulled off. Then another nurse stepped forward. She came to wipe down my face from the drops etc. But it was not done gently or even kindly, but heavy-handedly. I saw no compassion, no kindness nothing that I would associate within a caring community. It appeared that the mentality was, just employed to do a job, rather than fulfilling a vocation of care. everything was done quickly , efficiently , with real customer care that so many companies talk about but few really understand, when i removed the guard over my eye the morning after my operation I was astounded at the difference. Thankyou to all staff there including transport staff , truly professional and pleasant people to deal with , I cannot praise you all enough

Brilliant service from driver to nurse to doctor. Was treated respectfully and listened to. Looked after and welcomed. Cant praise this service enough

I am absolutely happy with everything that occurred - the way both my eyes were transformed - every stage was well managed by friendly and professional teams from reception through to final guidance on how to keep my new eyes healthy. This is what patient care is all about - keep up the good work.

Took my mum to spa medical this morning in Watford and she wanted to send a review. Very pleased with the treatment and the staff are very nice , especially the man at the door . The nurses very professional and looked after me so well .
